From Pravda (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/HistoryHonours):

Aston Villa are the fifth most decorated club in English football history.
As well as 19 major domestic honours, including seven league championships, Villa are one of just five British clubs to have won the European Cup.
The club also boasts another European triumph, the 1982-83 European Super Cup, which was won with a two-leg victory over Spanish giants Barcelona.

EXACTLY what and when is missing?
Prize available for the first poster to provide a full, complete and accurate list for all competitions. Best of luck.
Again, this will be moved to Villa Memories once answered.

I think you have FA cup winners mixed up with runners up...and 2000 FA cup runners up is missing...
Oh hang-on, the line space placing has mixed me up..... oops.
-

Blame the OS. Thanks.
-
It's not missing, it's just badly formatted.
-
I think that is what I said.
-
It's not missing, it's just badly formatted.
Amended now.
-
Thought we were 4th.
Chelsea haven't eclipsed us already have they?
-
I thought we are the fourth most decorated club in English football history? Or are they counting Charity / Community shields as well?
-
Didnt we "win" or qual. via the inter twobob twice?
-
Just looked on wiki what's the 'Football League War Cup' we won in 1944.
-

A wartime replacement for the FA Cup. We beat Blackpool in the northern area final then drew with Charlton in the play-off.
-
Well why is that trophy not on the list?
-

They must be. Everton have won a lot more of them than us (9 to our 1).
Interestingly, Everton have never won the League Cup - that surprised me!
-
Well why is that trophy not on the list?
Because it was an unofficial competition. If it were official, the War League would count as well, and Birmingham City would have won a league championship. The universe could not survive such upheaval.
-
Nice one for clearing that one up.
-
For me its
7 Leagues
7 FA Cups
5 League Cups
1 European Cup
20 trophies (that matter) in all, which puts us 4th on the list.
Liverpool have 40, Man United 37, Arsenal 27, Villa 20, Spurs 17, Chelsea and Everton 15, Newcastle 11 etc etc
So for all Fergie's bluster they still haven't knocked them off there perch......
-
This Charity Shield business is a bit of a nonsense and can't be taken seriously. We've won the Cup or League on fourteen occasions combined yet have only contested four Charity Shields!

And one of them was when we won the third division.
-
We won the Sheriff of London Charity Shield (forerunner of the modern Community Shield) in the 1900s.
If you are counting Charity Shield Runners-up as an 'honour' then World Club Cup Runners-up (1983) should also be mentioned.
-
Everton's record surprised me when I read it in the programme last week. I knew they'd been great in the mid-80s but was surprised by their other post-war success. Better than ours unfortunately.
-
Haven't we done this before?
I'm going with the Birmingham Senior Cup
-
There's loads more.
-
FA Charity Shield Winners 1981? Was that not 2-2 with spuds
-
Eh...that Peace pot we won at Seville?
-
Are we counting the Reserve League wins and the Youth League which we won recently?
-
Haven't we 'won' the intertoto more than once? Oh, and the Daily Express 5 a-side was definitely won in 1981.
-
Didn't we win the Mita Copiers competition!! on numerous occasions?
I seem to remember the two Mita Copiers being at the forefront of the team photo's for many a year!
Mark

I am proud to look at that honour's list, the forth best of all time and hopefully there's many more to come.

Birmingham Senior Cup winners:
1880, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1899, 1903, 1904, 1906, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1912, 1983
Runners-up:
1876, 1881, 1893, 1895, 1901, 1902, 1924, 1983, 1995, 1996

What about our legendary Southern Junior Floodlit Cup escapades?
-
We won the Coca-Cola Cup (Japan) before the start of the 1993-4 season, a good omen for the rest of the campaign.
We've won the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens loads of times.
I imagine we've also won Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire County Cups... I think we've competed in all three.
We may have also won the Mayor of Birmingham Charity Cup. We definitely lost in the final in 1897.
Peter W, we only 'won' the InterToto once. That was when there were three finals and each winner was given a trophy. They later changed the format to eleven finals. The winners all qualified for the UEFA Cup and whichever team won that was judged to be InterToto Cup Winner. It wasn't us.
-
Did we actually get a trophy for the Intertoto in 2002? Any pics of the presentation?

Did we beat ourselves in the 1983 final? <winky>

Only once, although certain DVDs claim Villa won the 2008 version ('Planet Villa' which I got for my birthday at the weekend being one) Braga got to the last 16 when we were knocked out in Moscow in the last 32.

I'd agree with this - the only trophies that count are Old Division 1/Premier League; FA Cup; League Cup; European Cup/Champions League; Cup Winners Cup; UEFA Cup/Europa Cup.
I've read somewhere that in the 80s, the Liverpool players used to give each trophy a "weighting" - so League/European Cup = 5; FA Cup, Other European = 3; League Cup = 2; Anything else = 1.
That sounds about right to me.

Look in Merson's hand...

We never wore a shirt that purple did we?! Are you sure that's not Harchester United...

If you go on UEFA.com and check out the Villa page it is confirmed that we are officially credited with four UEFA trophies - two of them being Inter Totos.

I stand corrected...they have changed it! Looks like it's only the one InterToto.
-
Is it only in recent years that the European Super Cup has been latched onto by the media? I'm sure when we won it was a highlight show on Sportsnight.
Also the Community/Charity Shield...never seen as anything but a pre-season friendly. When was it first televised. Again when we played Spurs it was just highlights on Match of the Day.
And when was the League Cup first televised? Was always a Saturday game played alongside league matches until shifted to a Sunday.
Or is my memory totally bollocksed?

Birmingham Senior Cup winners:
1880, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1899, 1903, 1904, 1906, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1912, 1983

1876, 1881, 1893, 1895, 1901, 1902, 1924, 1983, 1995, 1996

Well spotted sir!
The 1983 "win" should read 1985.
-
I imagine we've also won Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire County Cups... I think we've competed in all three.
Never won the Staffs Senior Cup.
There isn't a Warwickshire county cup as such, Warwickshire teams have always been affiliated to the Birmingham FA (well Birmingham was in Warwickshire after all!).
We have however won the Worcestershire Senior Cup in 1939 and 1954.
-
Plenty or honours pre-WWII that have not yet been mentioned.
-
There is a photo in the Legends Lounge proclaiming Villa as the first Birmingham club to win the Birmingham Senior Cup.
-
Birmingham Cup.
Birmingham League.
Birmingham Combination.
Birmingham & District League.
Plus all the honours mentioned in the recent WW2 Villa thread.
-
Well why is that trophy not on the list?
Because it was an unofficial competition. If it were official, the War League would count as well, and Birmingham City would have won a league championship. The universe could not survive such upheaval.
And that's where the phrase "God help us if there's a war" originated from.
-
The bollocks that is the fair play league?
-
Sheriff of London's Shield?
-
There is a photo in the Legends Lounge proclaiming Villa as the first Birmingham club to win the Birmingham Senior Cup.
Which is correct as the four previous winners were Tipton, Wednesbury Old Athletic (twice) and Shrewsbury Town.
-
Yum roight, Tipton un Wensbree ay Brummagem am they?
