Title: Greetings from the Potteries (again)
Post by: Bunny@Stoke on September 02, 2010, 05:27:23 PM
Ay up Villains,

hope you are well and looking forward to 10 days time in ST4. After transfer deadline day (remember those  ;)) many Stokies are very optimistic - I'm not so sure. Good players don't necesarily make a good team, but a forward batch of Fuller, Kenwynne, Tuncay and Gudjonsen is very decent - the best we've ever had.

I know some on here followed my away day guide last season and had a decent day at Stoke, so if anyone wants info on boozers, parking etc get in touch or I'll put a post up on here.

We need 3 points next week, so please be obliging!

Can't wait for the Stoke game, my first away game of the season.

Where is the best place to park?

near the ground I've always found to be the best option.  ;)

I will do an awayday guide in the next few days. For now, have a look at multimap around the Campbell Road area (where Michelin is). Be careful thoug, £60 fine if parked on pavement or grass.

There's loads of parking now going towards Trentham up to the Aldi. Go past the way end and keep going down that way from the ground and you’ll be alright.

There is alot of secure parking down Stanley Matthews Way - last year I parked on the screwfix site , which is a manned, fenced off car park for £5

Hi Bunny

Yes making the trip up the M6 and stopping off for refreshment in Stone-

Interesting signings by Pullis - does it mean you will be playing it on the deck
a liitle more ?

Ps have your local constabulary had the power of arrest re-instated?
my coach was bricked as we were escorted back towards the motorway
last time

Mozza, sorry to hear about that mate. Hopefully as it's a night game the little tw@s will be in bed by the end of the game?

We won't play it much differently as we don't yet have central midfielders who get it down. But christ, we have some decent forwards now. I reckon he'll go with Jones and Fuller for your visit, but may play Gudjonson off one of them. Tuncay won't play much again this season - shame, as he is quality.

It's always best to have your glass half-empty as a Stoke fan - as folk usually walk past and p*** in it! I am fearful because we have many supporters who now expect us to do well. It doesn't work like that.

Alright Bunny! What's the story with Tuncay? Why won't he be playing much? I was well impressed with him against us at ours last year - he was superb.

You didnt really need Ken Jones, should have just done a swap with Tuncay and Heskey ..  Both clubs sorted, you get a brilliant ex england striker and save money and we get Tuncay who is not getting games for Stoke..

Why wasnt this deal sorted??  ;-)

Hiya Bunny - good to hear from you again. regretably I will not be able to take up your previous offer and met up before the game. I was laid off in June (cue unemployed scouser jokes !) and am having to prioritise on the spending - as much as I love the game, family comes first.
Hopefully we can meet up at Villa Park (Bartons Arms) later in the season.
Good luck and may the best team win

PS I see "our kid" - Mozza has already been in touch - what he fails to tell you about the coach incident was that he probably threw the first brick :)

Cheers

Will be up for this but keeping quiet in the west stand lower.

Would say parking anywhere around Oakhill, Trent Vale or Hero Cross if you know the area, 15-20 min walk to the ground there.

Got to see can't think of a more stanger footballer to club fit than Gudjohnson! Do you lot think it's 1999 again with these icelandics?! (wink)

I went to the Stoke game last year and it was bloody freezing.

I hope Fuller gets dropped, he always plays really well against us.

Fuller is outstanding. Our best striker for the last 3 decades and I just hope he isn't marginilised after recent purchases. He's carried us for 4 seasons now, alone, and sods law we get someone decent in he might not play.

SHQ's suggestions are good - doubt you'll get any mither for a night game.

If your ticket prices aren't crazy money will do Villa away this year and a 'meet' in the Bartons. If anyone is near Campbell rd next week The Plough and Gardners Retreat are decent pubs unless you're in a big group. Never seen any trouble down there.

Your forward line is much better than ours.

Your forward line is much better than ours.

I think we have a better defence.

0-0 ??

promise you it won't be 0-0, especially if we put the outstanding Huth at right back.

Fish. Out. Of. Water.

I think will score another screamer against you guys!

What's happened to Tuncay i always rated him?

the manager doesn't gibbo.  :(

The bloke played 20 minutes against Spurs and was the best player on the park and changed the game.

I think it's because he's a foot too small!

Last season's game was bizarre. 90 minutes of Villa heading away Rory Delap throw ins.

Fuller is outstanding. Our best striker for the last 3 decades.......

I always thought he looked older than he claimed he was.

I went to your "stadium" the last two years, but, because you can't build things properly and therefore people in the disabled areas spend 95% of the game with their view impeded by people's backs/arses and none of the Villa away contingent are Georgie Thompson, I am not going.

That may be a jokey comment, but it's no laughing matter, it's disgraceful and could easily be rectified with some of the bricks your fans threw at the buses last year!

I didn't care the first year because I had hoped you'd just go back down, sadly, that doesn't look the case....

Gutted i'll miss the atmosphere though....It was cracking

ian,

if I could get you in the home disabled section for$ zip, would you go? Sorry to hear about your time at the Brit mate and if you want to go in another section I could have a word.

Like most new stadia it lacks a lot, although as you say, it can make up for it in sheer, white noise when we have a good wind behind us.*

*or a sh** ref.
