Title: TV Coverage Moans
Post by: Somniloquism on August 15, 2010, 01:50:41 AM
Did anyone watch this and see the new starting credits. They are mixing players of years past and present but it looks really poorly done. The only good point for it is there are two snatches of God in a Villa shirt.

I think it's poorly done on purpose, if it blended in nicely, you wouldn't notice it.

Discussed a bit how we seemed to be playing as a team well and had good energy and desire or something like that.

nothing I'd disagree with.

I really like the montage at the start, with clips from yesteryear. God is featured, resplendent in the AST '95-'97 shirt for a good 4.6 secs.

They have to pander to the big clubs dont they, which we were one of yesterday as 3 of the big 7 didn't play.  Complete an utter patronising dismisal of the Sunderland/noses game which was funny to watch. WTF was Steve Bruce on about I don't know, it was an obvious sending off. Nice kit as well from blose, we'll see better on a Sunday morning.

I liked the God intro.

Shame the highlights missed out the first ten minutes when we could've been five-up, and hardly bothered to mention the imperious Albrighton. They did interview him though and he sounded like a Yam Yam. So that's what Tammurf people talk like. Mind you, maybe we could do with him keeping a low profile so Man Sodding City don't make a bid for him.

Motty talked about Albrighton in his commentary, but not a word from the grumpy scot or mr. personality chatting with the walkers crisps guy.

Perhaps if MacDonald gets the job permanently they will talk more favourably about us... he is ex-Liverpool after all.

On the Football Focus before the match, Droopy was on and they asked him about his Liverpool days together with MacDonald. He said KMac got his nickname within 10 minutes of being in the dressing room. He was apparently moaning about everything so they called him Len after Len Fairclough on Corrie who was always moaning. Lee Dixon asked did he take that nickname of Lawro and his face was like thunder.

The opening titles are crap. They're always crap but whoever did those needs their computer confiscating.

That actually really pissed me off. Lawrenson was asked his opinion about KM and he wasted my licence fee money telling a shit anecdote aimed to make himself look funny - tell us about the man/coach you fucking cretin!

Missed MOTD last night, out socialising. Just watched MOTD2, and surprisingly, after today's games, our game yesterday was the first shown.

He just had a folded up copy of it in his hand Dave, you couldn't see what it was called.

I don't particularly like Colin Murray but thought MOTD was much better than previous seasons.

Maybe it was the big long section on us that did it though.

I liked Hansen playing down our performance. We performed quite well apparently. Dammed with faint praise. Don't recall the same reservation when Chelsea or Man U get their annual home tie against a promoted side first up.

How much better would Match of the Day be with just one person presenting it, showing longer highlights of each game, instead of the useless 'analysis' we get after each of the main games.

Also, Colin Murray is such a speng.

He had a face on him like a bulldog chewing a wasp as he admitted we played well.  Obviously bitter about what happened with his fellow World Cup pundit.

That Colin Murray irritated the fuck out of me, I wanted to smash my tv

The best Football presenter they have now is the guy who does the Football League. I thought he should have been upgraded to MOTD2 after Chiles left.

Everything about that programme annoys the cock off me. I'm not a chauvinist but every time I see that woman that does the e-mails she just sounds like she's about to say 'Yay, football!' Claridge is as entertaining as a bucket of pissed-in porridge and what kind of a theme tune/score is that? People shouting a bit? Terrible.

On a side note, did you see the coverage of Pomepy's match? It appears you have to give up your right to a camera gantry when you drop out of the Premier! It was so low an angle I thought ITV had got involved.

Can I be REALLY annoyed that they played music across the back of the managerand player interviews on MOTD2 last night??  They could at least have had the decency to play some grinding techno every time that cock Colin Murray opened his dumb arse mouth.  Thanks.

I'd guess that the HD cameras are a bit pricey and they'd need several at each match (for different angles etc) and would spunk a load of cash on 10 x 90mins of HD coverage only for some of them to be condensed to less than a minute on MOTD when they show (for example) Blackburn's riveting 0-0 draw away at Wigan. So you could argue they're spending our licence fee wisely by not doing MOTD in HD. Individual live games are another matter though....

we could change the title of this thread to 'lets all be paranoid about MOTD]

if you went on every prem club forum you would see that all other fans think there is some great conspiracy from the media against there club,

they all complain about media bias against them
they all complain about the amount of copy in the papers on them, then when they get some complain about what it says

especially those from manc land [both sides now]

we are all the same really, paranoid

on a serious note, can you all stop talking about me behind my back

As I never watched Corrie in the 70's-80's Len was the only name that came to mind.

All I watch for MOTD is the goals, the punditry is dreadful, just stating the bleeding obvious.

MOTD won't be HD until they've moved to Salford Quays - next season's a possibility.  Even Sky don't have all the highlights in HD (Football First) and they're much hotter on the HD front

I've renamed this thread so we can reuse it if required,

Anyone notice that Last nights Beeb programme that lasted 1 hr was dominated by Chelsea and Manu for half of it and then the other half covered pretty much only the goals (no replays) from two nights worth of matches. Of course there was  extended coverage for the Arse - Spuds match when that one appeared. Isn't it great how such an unbiased and non audience orientated channel still seems to target the top 4?

Stan Collymore used my login that day!

On last night, don't they for the early rounds of carling cup games save costs by justing having one main camera?

I thought it was weird how Sky had shown the Arsenal and Manchester United games and then the BBC still proceeded to show them at length. Fair enough showing the Chelsea game, it was a bit of a cracker. But surely no-one who was really interested in Arsenal or Spurs would not have already seen that game, or at least the highlights of it, in the previous 24 hours?

Tv game so it actually has commentators and more than one camera angle.
