If you were to support the nearest side to where you were born and to where you live now, who would these sides be?
-
League sides?
Blues and Coventry City.
Christ. How horrible.
-
Fuck off.
-
Small Heath.
As for non-league not sure, maybe Chelmsley Town? Dave Cooper will probably know, which is the nearest non-league side to Yardley?
-
Fuck off.
Boing-Boing!
-
I’m mainly after league sides, but if you want to chuck in a non-league side as well, then that’s fine.
-
And to play my own game.
Small Heath for nearest to my place of birth and West Brom is closest to where I currently reside.
Oh dear.
-
this is always good for a larf. especially if you know Brummie man u fans

Small Heath.
As for non-league not sure, maybe Chelmsley Town? Dave Cooper will probably know, which is the nearest non-league side to Yardley?
Yardley? As of this season, Clements '83. Mid land Combination division two, and thoroughly horrible.
-
I guessed it would be someone horrible.
-
As for me:
Born - unfortunately The Boggies.
Brought up - Polesworth North Warwick (who I also briefly played for)
Live now - Tipton Town (EDIT - Bustleholme groundshare at Tipton and their actual spiritual home on the Charlemont Estate in West Brom is nearer than Tipton, so them)
-
The Albions of West Bromwich and Brighton and Hove.
-
small heath and Adelaide United now
-
I was having an argument with an Adelaide United fan last week. He was claiming they are the fifth best side in the world!
-
I'm not sure they could justifiably claim to be the 5th best side in the A League. There's quite a big substance abuse issue in Adelaide
-
King's Heath and Moseley used to be solidly Villa but now seems to have succumbed to the other lot. It is as though they have osmotically progressed up from Digbeth and environs. Visiting brother on a Sunday we went down to Moseley for old times sake on Derby day. We were deeply shocked if not traumatised by the prevalence of non-claret shirts in The Village Pub. The consolation on the day was they had little to cheer about but then we were a little muted in our quiet elation.
Have they taken over round there or is it true the majority of Sth Birmingham Villa supporters are now domiciled in Dorridge Solihull Dickens Heath etc? I hope the same demogaphic shift is not true of other nicer areas of Central Brum
The board need to subtley think about attracting the lost legions back to the club.
I like to think the Villa fans are still there just less obtrusive..
apols for being slightky off-topic.
I am closer to Chelsea these days...more of that unsettling colour.
-
Blues and Columbus Crew.
-
Canberra Arrows and now, I guess Sydney FC are the closest since we don't have a team here.
-
Born - not saying who exactly, but they've got the bestest, loyalest, wackiest fans in the world and they're delighted to be back in the promised land. For six months that is, until they decide the Premier League is overrated and are looking forward to getting back to play against "proper" teams with "proper" fans in "proper" grounds.
Now - the Villa
-
Kidderminster Harriers for place of birth
WBA for nearest league side!
Horsham Town for current home
Either Brighton or Crystal Palace for nearest league side to my home. Not sure which is closer.
-
If Tamworth ever made the great leap forward, I may just be slightly closer to The Lamb than I am to Villa Park.
I know in terms of time I can get there quicker, less traffic at the Mile oak traffic lights than getting round Six ways and Gravelly Hill interchange island match day or not.
When you say nearest do you mean as the crow flies? Or should we work it out on a satnav, and if so do we plot it using shortest route or so called quickest route function ?
See what happens? You ask one question and awkward types come back and ask 3 or 4 in response.
-
Born - Norwich City - Now, Portsmouth - just!
-
Wolves *shudder*
I think there was about 2miles in it though. I supported Villa because of my friends dad and Im grateful to him for that. Thankyou David
Shockingly his son switched from Villa to Blues a couple of years ago *wanker* cough
-

I spent most of my life in Redditch and from my post code the rabble in Small Heath are two miles closer.
Currently living in Southend-on-sea so Southend United is my local team who I do go and watch a few times a season, especially midweek when I've no chance to get up to the Villa.
-
League - Small Heath
Non-League - Solihull Moors
Though i was born and live in Solihull, my Dad originally came from Cannock which is closer to Villa. (Though that probably means he should support Chasetown or Walsall)
-
Born - Villa.
Now - I'd need to get the measuring tape out, so I'm just going to say Villa again as the alternative is to horrible to contemplate.
-
Doncaster Rovers for both
-
Born: Marston Green Maternity Hospital so i'd have the choices of Chelmsley town or Small Heath. No, thats no choice at all - Chelmsley Town every time!

-
Hong Kong Football Club, but sadly these days I've been reduced to Shrewsbury Town. Unless you in clude League of Wales in which case Welshpool or Newtown... let's not go there... ever. If anyone invites you to Welshpool or Newtown you should punch them squarely on the nose and run before they recover their senses.
-
I guess Everton or Blackpool, whichever is furthest west.
Plymouth Argyle are the league team furthest west in England.
-
Born in Good Hope Sutton Coldfield, brought up in Erdington, so Villa, naturally. Recently living in the UAE, Dubai, not far from Al Nasr football club. Now travelling a bit, currently in Sri Lanka, south. I think they have a darts team.

Interested to see fellow 'financial man' Risso born in/near Shrewsbury.
-
I think the last time we did something similar it turned out that I live about halfway between Villa and Walsall (Pheasey). I was born in Dudley Road Hospital so not sure whether VP or The Sty is closer to that. Anyone any ideas?
-
The Villa, thankfully, and reason enough to move back to Coleshill from Olton.
The air's just cleaner.
And born in Good Hope, and raised in the Erdington heartlands.

-
By birth I should have been a Bristol Rovers or Cheltenham Town fan
I grew up 9 miles from a shit hole and an agonisingly close 11 miles to Villa Park.
I now live 1 mile from Charlton and a safe 3 miles from Millwall.
-
I was born in Stourbridge, apparently. So whoever you want to throw into mix that's closest.

When I was born, definitely Walsall. The Manor is only about half a mile from where Fellows Park used to be and it's only about double that to the Bescot now.
Closest actual teams to me are Rushall Olympic and Pelsall Villa.
-

Good to see that there's plenty of fellow Gloucestershire H&V'ers
-
Tranmere Rovers then and now.....how I enjoyed going to school after the 2nd leg semi in 1994! Took some stick the week before though. Half of them were dirty redscouse anyway who had got fed up with Souness and switched allegiance.....never change your colours
Liverpool and Everton fans were quiet in work today, strange no-one wanted to talk footy......
-
Moseley is nearest to Villa Park, the way I drive
Now - Forest Green
-
place of birth - Walsall
current res - Walsall
local team - Walsall
supporter - Wal???? nah Villa
Aren't we Wallsall's Parent club or something? We always seem to play them pre-season.
I think that is in exchange for them letting us play reserve games there. To my knowledge, we have no agreement with them in terms of loaning players or getting 'first option' on any talent they may produce.
-
Small heath on both fronts - urgh!
-
Born in Aston, lived in Erdington. Nursery, Infant and Junior in Erdington, senior school in Aston. I don't have much of a choice to who I follow.
-
I was born in St Albans, grew up in Ashford in Kent (a bit of a desert for local teams to support), and spent my early days supporting Brighton due to family connections. Still do, but took the gloryhunting option when Villa were doing well under BFR in 1992.
I live in Putney now, and my route to work takes me past Craven Cottage on the other side of the river.
-
Born : Blose
Grew up : Athlone Town
Now : Atlante FC
-
growing up: Crystal Palace (thank f**k for family connections!)
now: was LA Galaxy until the Earthquakes moved back to San Jose from Texas.
-
Well I was born in Selly Oak Hospital - so according to t'internet: Small Heath
I grew up in a tiny village near Warwick, so RC Warwick/Coventry - in fact, I still have, somewhere a Coventry rosette which was given to my dad (who supports his boyhood team - which isn't from around here) to give to me by one of his work colleagues, from their FA triumph in '87, clearly at the ripe old age of 9 months I wasn't that stupid.
Now: Leicester.......urgh.
-
This is really weird I have something in common with Ads
Small Heath and Albyon ...................doesn't bear thinking about does it
Let you into a secret though - my dad and his dad used to watch both Villa and
Bloose on alternate weeks in late 40's early 50's it was fairly common place, or so
I was told
My mother reckoned she named me after the Villa keeper of the day Conn Martin
but the men of the family took me to both grounds until one day, aged about four
and proudly wearing the claret and blue scarf I broadcast to everyone nearby
standing on the Spion Kop that I preferred going to the other football ground -
By all accounts it caused alot of laughter (how times have changed) but it had
the desired affect - I shudder to think what type of person I would have become
-
QPR for both.
What happened to the so-called 'richest team in the world'?
-
Villa
-

-
The Scutty Saddlers and Pelsall Villa.
