Great goal from Gary Shaw in here
Beautiful away kit also.

We threw that away. Still, suppose we owed them a favour. Be nice if the commentator could've referred to us as 'Champions' - they always do when it's some scummy team holding on to the trophy.
-
It's nice to see games like that again.

Whatever happened to Tony McAndrew...?
-
That Boro penalty was a) outside the box, b) not even a foul.
Gary Shaw, lovely passer of the ball, great vision and a teriffic finisher. How come he wasn't in the England squad in 1982?
-
Don't remember this at all. I remember the 3-3 in, I think 88. 2 up in about 5 mins. 3-2 down and then we gewt the equaliser. I think.

I went to this game on the official travellers club coach. Very dodgy place in those days; a lad from the Potteries who I sat next to on the coach got smacked in the face by a plank of wood (swung by a 'Boro fan of course) on the way to the ground. Not a great away following; crowd only 12,522 which was our third lowest league attendance that season, the lowest being Notts Co. away: 9,597. Pissed down with rain all through the second half, on the open terracing.

Became Youth coach at Villa Park.

I wasn't at the game but as soon as Boro was mentioned I knew someone would say it was cold and there was violence in the air.
-
I was there for the 3-3 in '88- McInally was in the middle of his purple patch and got two. I think Keown got sent off. Oh, and I'm pretty sure it was cold and wet- but not as bad as at Huddersfield the year before!

He committed the cardinal sin of not playing for Arsenal or Spurs.
See also, Dennis Mortimer, Gordon Cowans and Tony Morley.

No, Dennis Mortimer didn't deserve to be anywhere near the Engalnd squad - especially when that brilliant graceful Armstrong of Southampton was always picked ahead of him. Bloody Greenwood.

Cheers for posting this - just found it !!
I was there - went up on the Friday night, me and a pal dossed in my car for 2 nights - we were only talking about it the other day - must have been mad doing that in November !!
We were sat in the stand opposite the cameras - the main stand I think.
I miss grounds like Ayresome Park not being around any more - the new grounds are all very swish and accommodating - but to me so many all look the same.
