Title: Thomas Hitzlsperger
Post by: Chris Harte on August 09, 2010, 03:23:32 PM
As many of us will have noticed, Der Hammer has signed for The Hammers.

With our first game of the season against West Ham, what kind of reception will you give him should be make an appearance?

(I would have created a poll but it looks like the new format isn't configured for it yet - I'd have limited the options to "Keen applause", "Outright Abuse" and "Total Indifference.")

I might applaud him, give him dogs abuse, then throw a coin at him, then hug him.

Not neccessarily in that order.

Will be interesting to see how he's developed. As he's now playing for West Ham, I would say not much from when we had him.

Just don't give him the sight of goal.

I am sure the adopted Brummie will get a good ovation - never forget the screamer against the Blues in that opening 2nd half - we should have gone on that day to roast them 5/6

Also brilliant winners at Pompey and Bolton

LIke the kid - too slow for the prem so not his fault he went back home

Stan'll have to stick tight to him.

I reckon West Ham might be a decent outfit this year. Tricky opening fixture that.

no reason to give anything but polite applause. He didn't demand to leave and he always has a good word to say about us. To me he's a bit like Juan Pablo, where I at least will always have some very good memories of, even if he didn't really set things alight.

I'll give him an excellent ovation.  I really looking forward to seeing him on Saturday.

I'm also looking forward to Rob Green coming up to the Holte End (wink)

I hope Hitz will get warm applause before the game then go on to be as be as anonymous as he was for the majority of his Villa career, his occasional thunderbolt shots excepted.

How can anyone boo Der Hammer? I will clap him, He never asked to leave so...

I am annoyed however that he signed for them but life is life (at least he didn't go to the Blues)

He was one of my favourite players when he was here. I'll certainly give him a cheery wave.

Applause from me. Hitz was committed to the team, and was just unlucky that Doug f**ked him over on his contract.

I hope he gets a rousing reception, but I can forsee idiots being idiots...

Didn't dislike him by any means, and he did score a screamer in the last minute to give me my first Villa away win at like the 40th attempt against Bolton...I certainly won't be booing him, however if I remember rightly he refused a new contract because his missus had finished uni in Brum (the reason he came in the first place) and he wanted to do one back to Germany with her.

It is a fair enough reason I am not debating that, however for the dogs abuse David Unsworth got (I know the situation is different), I feel Hitzlsperger may be getting more credit than due here

Applause from me, always liked him, and I am sure it was at Portsmouth away when I was freezin' me nuts off that he scored a great goal to warm me up a bit.

I can't imagine anyone booing him. Then again, I've no idea why some idiots felt the need to boo Steve Watson and Darius Vassell.

We should all stand and applaud at the announcement of his name

then shout 'shoot' at him at the most inappropriate of moments(throw ins etc)

Dolly disgracefully subbed him at half time in his final home match to deprive him of the opportunity for us to give him a good send off, typical of the snide horrible creature he was. How difficult would it have been to give him five minutes and then sub im to alow us all to say "thank you and good bye".

I only have happy memories of him and he will get a cheer from me.

After what's been going on since just after 4pm yesterday I have a sneaky feeling der Hammer
will hit a screamer past Brad senior at the Holte End and there will be spontaneous applause

Bit strange considering he wasn't in their World Cup squad.

He just wasn't fit and in form I'd say and unlike certain other managers, Loew didn't take any passengers because he didn't need to.

He's now using the friendly to give those on the periphery a chance to reassert themselves and it's a shame for England that Fabio hasn't done the same.

he was subbed for for germany last night, and is a doubt for saturday.

as an aside, i've been talking to a hammer at work, and he says he has been impressive in their friendlies. sounds like his passing has improved.

Applause merely for the fact that he has the funniest Brummie/German accent known to man. Double applause for that screamer against them down the road.
