Ashley's in.
As is that Bolton defender.
Ben Foster (Birmingham), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers)
Wes Brown (Manchester United), Gary Cahill (Bolton Wanderers), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham Hotspur), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), John Terry (Chelsea)
Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Aston Villa), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)
Darren Bent (Sunderland), Carlton Cole (West Ham United), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Bobby Zamora (Fulham)
-
Zamora's keeping Gabby's spot warm then.
-
That attack minus Rooney is pretty shit isn't it.
-
Gabby must be a doubt. Otherwise he'd be there.
-
I'd also hoped Postman Pat might have seen sense and cut both Lampard and Gerrard, or at least one of them, but you've got to keep the prawn sandwich brigade happy, eh?
-
At least Ash has a deserved call up.
-
That attack minus Rooney is pretty shit isn't it.
No variety in the other three. Just shows how bereft of attacking players England are.
-
Nice to see a couple of youngsters integrated, I'd still hope that a few of the older generation are gone before the next major tournament. Well actually, hoping would imply that i care about International football, which as for the moment, i don't.
-
Is Crouch injured?
-
That attack minus Rooney is pretty shit isn't it.
the attack with the fat twat in the world cup was pretty shit wasnt it! Lets see how far we can go with some'lesser' players in! Until the sponsers start demanding big names in again! To me it is the same old shit, and why that ****** terry is anywhere near it i dont know!!!
-
The BBC said Heskey was dropped. Who's going to tell them they've made a little boo-boo there?
-
Not brave enough for my liking. The superstar 6 are still all their to disappoint. Cashley, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney. All a bunch of wankers. This friendly is also utterly pointless for using those arseholes. What would we learn? We should have canned them, and tested a few other youngsters in those spots, perhaps Rooney aside.
I'm glad to see Robinson in the squad. He should have been in the WC squad IMO. Hart aside, he was better than the other English stoppers last season.
-
I see there is no place for flavour of last month, Joe Cole. Terry will be pleased. Perhaps the manager is waiting for him to throw his toys out again.
As somebody else commented, why is Terry in the squad, anyway. He is on the way down from a non too high peak.
-
If ever you needed evidence as to why England fail to perform time and time again, this squad is it.
Why are Lampard and Gerrard not as effective for country as they are for their clubs? Because they don't have to be. They will be picked regardless.
Disgraceful.

Agree with you re: Terry, why bother with him? He's a disruptive influence, too slow and not that good really. So what if he throws himself at a ball once in a while, big deal. Agree also about Rooney and the World Cup, but we know he is world class, he is, isn't he?
-

Well I've seen no evidence. The press seem to think so but then they say the same about all the other under achievers.
-
Glad for Ashley to have a call up. Would have been nice for Warnock to have had a call up as well.
-
Postman Pat has come up trumps with this selection.
The fact that Lampard and Gerrard are in the squad is a joke. So too Keiran Gibbs - this is a player that has had minimal playing time in the Premiership but can only have been included as a result of London-biased media pressure. I can't think of another reason as although he may turn out to be top class, he has done nothing to merit selection.
Just watch Ash played out of position and look like an amateur.
The whole England International set up is a joke and they got what they deserved in the WC. The whole organisation is rotten from the top down, and the fact that they think that Trevor Brooking is the saviour of English football speaks volumes. Thanks to chumps like this, the national team is at least a generation behind other top teams and I can't believe that they will improve with this bunch of c*nts in place.
Shameful. I'm just glad that I'm only bothered about the Villa.
-
We'll have to wait and see who the starting 11 is, but I think it'll be quite a mix up. I don't think Capello's got the balls to keep it the same as his W.C. 11. All 6 subs will be used of course, but Maybe something like Hart, Johnson, Terry, Dawson, Cole, A. Johnson, Barry, Gerrard, Young, Rooney, Bent.
Definitely a step in the right direction with the squad though.
-
I can only assume Warnock and Gabby are not fit enough for the squad, although Gibbs is a better long term prospect for left back than Warnock.
MON was deep in telling Capello a lot in the first half against Valencia, and I assume much of it was don't you dare pick Gabby as he is not right. He would have been in the squad otherwise after Capello naming him in his players for the future after the world cup farce.
-
I see Paul Robinson has suddenly retired from international football and pulled out of the England squad, i think it's another overpaid ponce crying cause he didn't go to the world cup.
-
After his tantrum at the World Cup I thought that might be it for Terry, but obviously not. Capello has always seemed like a manager you don't mess around with.
I'm beyond caring about this mob now.
-
Same old shit.
-
I think the squads good.
Hart, Wilshere and A.Johnson should be brought into the team I think, because should they develop they'll be our future stars. Get 'em in now so they're ready for 2012.
Warnock and Baines aren't good enough, IMO. Gibbs was pushing Clichy hard for his spot before his injury, he'll be England's long term replacement for Cole should he reach his potential, again might as well get him in now.
Something like:
Hart
Johnson - Dawson - Terry - Cole
Milner - Lampard - Barry - Wilshere
Rooney - Bent
Is what I'd like to see.
-
I think it's stupid playing an england international a few day's before the season start's but nonetheless i'm pleased for ashley gotting a recall.
-
Where are Defoe and Crouch? How come Bent is suddenly better than both and yet Crouchie never played in the WC?
-
Well postman pats not got the balls to upset the media so includes Terry, Gerrard and Fwank. So much for building for the future. Half a job.
-
Oh no Wes Brown has quit international football now however will we cope.
-
It's a bit off that two players called into the squad have jacked it in as soon as they heard.
-
A player as gobsmackingly average as Wes Brown should wake up and thank whichever God he worships every morning that he managed to get one cap, let alone be retiring in favour of younger players.
It's all a bit bad, realy.
-
I like what Laurent Blanc did and drop the entire WC squad for the first international of his tenure. Capello should have done the same but either bottled it or was told not to.
I've honestly lost faith in him because I was naive in thinking he wouldn't put up with any bollocks. I was wrong. Bringing back Terry is just a complete an utter joke. How a player that basically held a press conference taking the piss out of the national team coach retains his place in a "new" squad is a complete farce. One would have to think that somehow, somwhere in the wise corridors of the FA Capello has been "told" to pick the 4 horsemen of the English World Cup Apocalypse; Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard and Terry.
I'm beyond caring.

As Arse Wenger said today in the Sunday Times. The English FA must decide between the best league in the world or the best national team.
Ask Fat Frank.... IQ of 150+ as he has played shite for England for years yet performs to the best of his ability with Portuguise, African, German etc players around him.....
Cut paying Drogba's of the world 6 million a year and invest in coaches paid by the FA to coach kids at all Junior clubs. Alas the FA have no structure - Uefa B coaches here have no FA plan ie - we play 4-4-2 system.
Mr Brooking claims more people are taking the coaching badges - but it's no more than a dad taking a team and learning to read road signs.
If Junior clubs reach 'FA Charter Standard' then they should have a full time FA coach full time teaching them the basics. - The sad reality is that the clubs try to achieve this status as a stepping stone to achieving FA grants.
-
I often hear the media talking about Trevor Brooking as the person we should be listening to when it comes to changing things, but hasn't he been involved at the top level of the FA for decades now?
Isn't he actually part of the problem, rather than the solution?
-
No. Brooking has precisely the right ideas. The problem is nobody in the FA is doing a damn thing about anything he recommends.

Maybe he's part of the solution but nobody at the FA, Football League or Premier League cares to listen. There are just so many people at the FA with little or no football background yet these are the people running our national game. You look at how Germany has embraced some of their former players in varying capacities. Is it any wonder that in such short time they have a very healthy domestic game, and a very promising national team with a plan for sustained development from the grass roots up?

Is Crouch injured?
Don't know I will ring the brothel and ask!

Honestly what a fucking moron. Just when you thought there couldn't be a greater example of taking for granted what you have, along comes Peter Crouch and cheats on his stunning wife to be with a cheap slapper. Idiot, idiot, idiot.
-
Capello has lost the plot. Players announcing retirement after they have been selected...don't get that? Surely him or his staff speak to players previously left out for long periods to ask/tell them before the squad is made public? :o
-
I think hes taken the easy option in leaving out the likes of Defoe and SWP in for the new players, as opposed to what he should have done and got shot of the Terry's of this world. Says to me 'weak manager afraid of player power'!
-
The brave new era for England led by err, Bobby Zamora and the same ego-obsessed players that were there before. I can hardly wait.
-
Bobby Zamora and Carlon Cole? I bet that's sent shockwaves round the European footballing super powers.
The FA is a laughing stock and Capello has lost it big time. :o
I hope Hungary take them to the cleaners.
-
Oh no Wes Brown has quit international football now however will we cope.
And i bet he does not get half the piss taking as Heskey did, I am no Heskey apologist and wished we never bought him but the way that he took most of the flack whilst the other glory boys got ignored made my blood boil - and he had been a good servant to the country forsaking holidays etc to be part of teh England set up - Paul "ginger bollocks" Scholes turns Capello down in his pathetic hour of need and nothing is said slagging the Manx twat off
It is so biased for and against certain players i am begining to really detetst the English national team set up
-
I watched Capello's press interview at lunchtime. What a waste of time. Still no answers as to why England performed so desperately at the World Cup.

She's just another gold-digging tramp, don't feel sorry for her, she's made her money and name off his back.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer. We don't have good enough footballers.

Overrated maybe, but they weren't just disappointing like they usually are in major tournaments, they were shocking.

Ben Foster has pulled out.
Replaced by Scott Loach and some guy called Frankie Fielding.
