HI
i was at the game tonight so didnt see his interview on TV someone got a text though saying something along the lines of oneill said that milner deal will be done in a couple of days and he didnt want to risk him tonight
can anyone confirm this ?
-
He said something could happen in the next couple of days so it would be best for all parties not to pick him. By which, I took it to mean don't play him in case he gets injured and scuppers the move.
Didn't say he would go for certain... just said it could happen in the next couple of days. If it doesn't, I say play him next week. The centre midfield looked devoid of invention and creativity.
-
i thought reo coker done a good job tonight. Luke young looked solid ( you watch that spaniard get in at rb next week grrrr )
-
I could be wrong but Milner wasnt even there so that would point towards a deal been done and Davies was missing too so hopefully the Keane deal
should go through soon too
-
lol you are reading too much into it lol
milner wasnt there im guessing cause if the crowd spotted him he would of got slaughterd,

Doubt he would have/of, he doesn't drink.

Deal will be done tomorrow I reckon with Milner on the pitch at Eastlands with his new Man City shirt.
Money grabbing wanker.

He's moved on to new employers and gained a pay rise.

Eh?
-
Draw your own conclusions from this but Ugo Ehiogu was the pundit on ITV and he was talking about the Milner deal as though he knew it had gone through and would be announced over the weekend.

Where was O'Neill located during the game tonight?

In the posh seats, next to Capello.

The sooner the Milner deal goes through - the better. Right now he is a dark cloud hurting the team. If MON/Lerner can get 25 mill plus Ireland for Milner then I'd take the deal in a heartbeat. Ireland can pass the ball well. We need a playmaker to compliment Albrighton (who should be starting), Ashley Young, Carew, and Gabby. Milner has indeed turned out to be a wanker.
-
In my previous post I meant 25 mill (including Ireland's salary).
-
The centre midfield looked devoid of invention and creativity.
I thought the midfield worked quite well although Downing still looks to be lacking confidence. I think where we struggled was getting someone up alongside Carew and past Heskey to take advantage of the midfield's good work.
I didn't think we looked that far off being a really good side and that was even with a few of the kids and Salifou playing too.
-
Downing was shockingly bad. Heskey was okay for the first 5 mins he came on, then reverted to type. Luke Young was voted man of the match but will still probably lose his place to Carlos next week. Reo-Coker impressed and Guzan just looks like an Enkleman waiting to happen.
-
I dont think Sidwell touched the ball did he? I thought Reo was quite good my biggest worry is the lack of goals for the coming season.
-
Prediction. By the end of the season Milner will be a bench warner and realise, like Barry, he isn't as good as he thought he was. Just cannot believe anyone would pay that kind of money for him, just shows how Fcked the gamd is.
-
To me we like many teams this season ala Tottenham, Everton have to sell to buy.
Oneill has created his own issue in that he cant sell the likes of sidwell, davies, reo-coker, young for decent money as he has been so stubborn and never giving them a chance.
Therefore if Milner wants to go and the money is 25m we should sell him. He works his absolute arse off and is a decent player but is def not a 25m player.
I wonder where he will play at citeh with all them midfielders but quite frankly who gives a fuck. I was not pissed off with Barry as he had given us years of loyal service. With milner he is clearly showing how little regard he has for Villa the manager and loyalty.
The big key now is Oneill needs to use the money to address our lack of creativity and strikers.
If w dont buy a striker [I would try and get bellamy] we have to play 4-5-1 and then we need two quality midfielders ireland would not be a bad shout but for me I would test everton for arteta. Lets try for a change and poach a player like other teams do to us!!!!
-
there are none so blind as them that don't want to see.
Interesting that this late in the day O'Neill in his interview on Milner reckoned if the deal went through he would need to discuss what monies would be available for transfers.
If they don't know by now perhaps they don't talk with him much any more and the place is falling into chaos. Doubt it but you never know. Nice shift of blame from Mart though.
-
I hate to bring a bit of poetic writing to the site but balls to Milner, he has a stupid face and can go fuck himself with a cucumber.

The central midfield pair looked excellent, in a workman like way. Thats fine though as long as the wide players and forwards have the invention and creativity, and they also looked workmanlike which is what i would worry more about. It was all too predictable and slow paced in the final third, and you struggled to see where a goal was coming from, like last season. If Keane, Ireland and McGeady do sign though, that is where i would hope things would change for the better in that way, between the 3 of them there is plenty of goals and creativity, and if we are pretty much swopping 1 workmanlike (albeit very good) footballer for those 3 i would be delighted and the squad overall will be considerably improved.

Giggled myself silly at this.
-
I thought MON looked really fed up in that interview, I wonder if Randy has told him some home truths and stamped his feet over the transfer. Albrighton looks like he is improving with every match, likes to take a player on and is not afraid to shoot.
-
The sooner this all sorted the better so we can start to invest in the side.
-
I remember towards the end of last season MON saying that sometimes it can be worth selling a star player to finance an overall improvement in the squad. I have no evidence to back this up but I have a suspicion that Milner was happy to stay but MON has decided to sell him and effectively forced him to move. That would explain the strange press reports about Milner being furious that MON said he'd refused a new contract etc and for the money that's being talked about I have to say that it may be a positive move for us. One thing's for sure, if I'm right then MON isn't about to come out and admit it publicly as many fans would react negatively.

I don't believe this at all.Milner has been completely sheepish and evasive since prior to the world cup when questioned about his future .If he wanted to stay he only had to say.He did the same to Newcastle why would he show us any more degree of loyalty
-
I'm swaying more towards that Milner wants to leave. Man City will be his 4th club and he's only 24, so it looks like he likes to move around. MON is trying to build a team here, so i don't think he'd want to be selling two of his best players two years on the trot if he did'nt want to. As it may turn out, it could be a good thing, it may freshen the whole team up, which needs doing i think.

At Newcastle he was paid derisory wages and was messed about by a club that was rapdily imploding. At Villa he's paid quite well (I believe) and has progressed into an England regular. I can see him having a lot more loyalty to us than them. As for being sheepish, I think I'd be a bit reluctant to say I'm definitely staying if I was expecting to enter contract negotiations. I'd not want to show my hand. You may very well be correct and I may be talking absolute shite but if I am then I don't think it's for those reasons.
-
He didn't have to say he was definitely staying. An indication that he wanted to would've been good enough.

Clearly he hasn't got any loyalty to us though. Many clubs I'm sure are interested in Ash but it didn't stop him talking about a new contract and expressing a bit of gratitude to the club that gave him his break.Milner clearly does not give a fuck !!

Milner said he didn't ask to leave Villa and I believe him.
MON realised he had to sell to buy and saw an opportunity to make some money to enable him to add to the squad. Nothing wrong with this, but I was a little bit disappointed that he wasn't honest about his intentions, instead he chose to use the press to force a deal and avoid any bad publicity. And reading some of the anti-Milner vitriol on here, it seems to have worked.
By the way, I'm not one of the MON OUT party, I just feel a bit let down by a man who I regarded as someone above playing the media game.

However Milner has not SAID anything publically and never has to confirm his position which for me speaks volumes

Are the players allowed to say anything though? Barry spoke to a paper and was punished for rule breaking.

Perhaps Milner is happy to play for villa. Its just he'd be even happier to play for ManC.

Im amazed by the instant attacks on Milner even though we have heard nothing off him. Its Martin angling for the move to happen that's disgusted me.
-
How exactly has Martin angled for this move to happen, genius?
-

Because the player wants to leave and we can get cash plus a better player in return?
It's the opinion of many of us that Milner is making a seriously unwise decision. He has a good six months and all of a sudden he jumps ship. Now I'm not saying he owes us necessarily, but let's not forget that a few months ago he attributed his success to "being at a stable club with stable management". How is he going to get that at Man City?
He should also know that if he's being bought off no more than six months' worth of 'research' into him doesn't mean they understand him, which will lead to him not being used at his best, then being left out of the team. He should realise this. But he doesn't, so we're not happy with him. Bring on Ireland, I say.
-
I am a big Milner fan, I loved him when he was on loan and was happy with the fee we paid because I rate him.. but even I am happy he is going for that kind of fee! We will be a better team for selling him as long as MON buys the right players... that I don't trust! Carlton Cole for Villa!

That's because you're determined to be incensed by any decisions the manager makes.
Why on earth would you be 'disgusted' by the manager deciding that a ridiculous offer for a player was too good to turn down.
Who gives a shit what Milner thinks, we support Aston Villa not James "hit every branch on the way down" Milner.
-
I can't muster the interest in this that I had in Lard Arse leaving. Rather like a parent "I am not angry James. Just very disappointed in you".

Totally my thoughts - he will lose out in the end (obviously not in his pocket)

Imagine the reason MON quits due not being able to sell JM as JM want to stay.
