Title: England u-21's
Post by: fredm on August 05, 2010, 09:46:54 AM
I see Marc Albrighton has been selected for the u-21's next week but I can't see Fonz's name down.  Is it my eyesight?  Is he over 21 now? or is he going to be in the 1st team squad?

The Fonz played for the Under 19's in their recent tournament.

He's not going to be in the 1st team sqaud, that's for certain. As Villajk said, he's just played in a tournament for the under 19s. He's not over 21.

There are a few obvious omissions from the U21 squad that should make the full squad very interesting when announced.  I think a certain set of 30 year old conceited wankers will be shitting themselves right now!!

Going by their performances on the pitch, I bet they don't give a shit.

England squad in full: Frankie Fielding (Blackburn), Alex McCarthy (Reading); Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Phil Jones (Blackburn), Martin Kelly (Liverpool), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham); Marc Albrighton (Villa), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Victor Moses (Wigan), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham); Andy Carroll (Newcastle), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Wellbeck (Manchester United).

Do they still allow "over-age" players in the U 21's ?

If so, maybe Pearce meant to call up Mark Albrighton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Albrighton) rather than Marc Albrighton

Delph and Clark should be in that squad too. Delph is obviously injured and Clark has been overlooked because those picking the team are obviously complete and utter morons. He's better than any of those centre halves.

Clark may well be better but Mancienne (assuming he's in the squad as a defender) has been a Premier League regular, as has Smalling (although he'll be bench warming at Man Utd this season)

Clark, Albrighton and Delfouneso should all be appearing fairly regularly for us, as well as Delph when he's fit again.

Will be bloody annoyed if none of them get a chance this year.

Albrighton is the best crosser of the ball we have.
