Diagnosed with blood cancer, according to the Stockport fan I work with (Ablett is an ex stockport manager)
Ex Blue-nose and all that but still a nasty illness

One of my best mates was diagnosed with it back in April. 32 and as fit as they come.
However, there have been advances in the last 10 years with treatment and if it's been diagnosed early enough, it can be treated, and managed, and allow patients to lead a normal life.
I wish him all the best.

Fat bastard Brazil said on talk Shite this morning that the prospects are not good - whether that is due to late diagnosis i am not sure
Hope the guys pulls through
Always makes me think about footballer getting shit like this - considering how fit they are and how they look after diet, weight, bodies etc
-
Good luck to him.

When something like this happens it really doesn't matter who he did or didn't play for. Hope he can overcome it!

The doctor said to my mate that it's caused by a primitive gene, you're either pre-disposed to it or you're not.
The only way you could develop it without this gene is by being exposed to massive levels of radiation, such as Chernobyl or Hiroshima.

Confirmed on the Ipswich Town (http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10272~2109049,00.html) website, where he is now a coach.
I hope it's been caught early enough for him to make a full recovery.

Good luck to him. As adopted Melbourne folk, the headline gave me a bit of start. We have a Gary Ablett who's an Aussie Rules god... I thought I would have heard the story before reading it on H&V!

I wish him well ,and putting a positive slant on it, I had it in 1981 ,so its not allways dire.

It wouldn't matter if he was a Villa-hating head of the Zulus, I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy after seeing what it does to people.
Really hope he pulls through, best of luck to him.
