Has anybody seen any updates on Fabian ? Seems to have gone very quiet on his recovery ?
-
He's out until October - at least.
-
Shame he's injured.
He's the much needed legs & energy that should be along side Petrov & Milner (or whoever) in the middle.
Looking forward to him making a full recovery.
-
I'm also looking forward to is return can't wait to see him in a villa shirt again.
-
Not sure what sort of interesting updates they can give. I think he's still got a lot of rehab to do before kicking a ball again.
-
Been a massive blow for Delph as this should of been a intergrating period for him. And lets face it looks like we really need the personal ............
-
...touch?
-
October?
I've ruled him out for the season in my head.

just think of joe cole, he did his in January (i think), he was fit after a full 9 months
-
9months is fairly standard for the type of injury he did, can be back in 6 if everything goes well (which is the case so far) but I doubt they'll risk him at his age, can easily end a career by rushing back after that kind of injury.
I'd say we'll hear talk of him being ready for the reserves by November. All being well he'll be in or about the first team squad by Christmas at the latest.
-
Correct me if I am wrong .... I realise he is a promising youngster however, he hardly ripped up any trees in his games thus far.
From what I have seen he is likely to get booked in every game .. perhaps down to over enthuisiasm (due to his age or wishing to justify his price tag etc).
He may turn out to be the real deal but lets not consider him to be the answer to our problems in midfield - certainly not in the short term.
-
Not sure what games you've watched but he's been one of our best players in most of the games he's played, at 18.
As for getting booked regularly a quick scan through the early career records of many of the premier leagues best players will show similar records. It comes from the players they're up against being a yard quicker (feet or head or both) than the kids they've dominated for the last few years, so there's a bit of a learning curve to not dive in so much. Players like Scholes have never got past it but have had great careers anyway.
The reality is he's probably the best young player I've ever seen at Villa as he truly does already have everything he needs to be a top player.
-
It'll be like a new signing, etc, etc.
-
This seasons Downing dare I say it for a variety of reasons.
-
Article suggests he's looking to get back asap in 2011. So in reality any performances this season will be a bonus
-
Nice words from Delph, just hope MON is as patient has he is. Can't be doing with rushing the lad back.
-
What i liked about Delph more than anything was that at such a young age he came into the team and was demanding the ball and telling players where he wanted it - this amongst some very senior pro's
Bodes well for the future

I saw Delph a couple of times last season as was impressed.
Man ure at home I thought he was our man of the match, I think MON should have used him a bit more, especially after an hour for Petrov. I like his hunger and enthusiasm
-
Best passer at the club, full of pace, running and energy, gets forward, gets stuck in, plenty of skill and has that swagger the best players seem to have and still so young.
What's not to like? He's going to be a special player for us.
-
I would be feeling a lot happier about the upcoming season if Delph was fit.
-
I thought Martin handled him well last season. Only mistake was probably throwing him in against Wigan, but that doesn't seem to have done any longterm damage. Had we continued in Europe he would have played more games, IMO.
You would normally expect an increased amount of games next season, but obviously the injury will hold that back. So should we be out of a cup or two by the time he's fit again, it may be hard for him to get too many games. I'd say 2011/2012 will be his big breakthrough season.

I thought that about the Moore brothers and look how that turned out ... I am not doubting his potential - I just think we should calm down a little because as you state, he is only 18.
