Always liked Lee Hendrie. When he was in form and/or scoring it was a joy to see how much it seemed to mean to him. I remember in particular one game against Palace in about '97-'98 when Lombardo had been put in charge and he absolutely creamed them.

The guy was a grade A bellend.  Given more chances than he deserved and never lived up to the promise he showed in that early period.

As Mr Woodall put it "when do you stop becoming a promising youngster?"

Hmm, which of the two did you do when he got sent off in a pre-season game at Tamworth during Dolly's reign? (Or you probably just shouted unsavoury things leading to his loadsamoney remark ;)).

I laughed hysterically, it was one of the funniest things I've seen on a football pitch.
His reaction to the couple of idiots having a go at him after the game was pathetic though, especially as it was in front of a load of kids who were just after his autograph, but that was Lee Hendrie all over, if he hadn't been good at football he would still be drinking cheap cider in bus stops and blinging up his Nissan Micra.

Watching him swagger off the pitch was funny and summed up the sheer fuckwittedness of a player who should have now been winding down a very successful Premier League career.

In all of the years I have been going down the Villa, he is with a doubt the biggest prick and grade-A knob jockey that I have felt ashamed of wearing a Villa shirt. Got to the stage when I absolutely detested the petulant little shit and all of his ridiculous on field petulance-cockiness-cowardness and off field embarrassing fuck-faced twatiness. I hated him. Still do.

And after a few cans of Irn-Bru, he will be orangeier than Judith Chalmers and BFR’s love child.

I always liked Lee Hendrie as a player but living outside of Brum I never really knew his reputation was so bad. However I'd like him to do well and he indeed could do that if his head is right?

I currently live in Aberdeen and if Lee acts the fool up here he will get a kicking that's for sure.

Pencilled in to make an appeareance for Aberdeen against Dunfermline tomorrow -

Talent unfulfilled due to lack of maturity.

Last seen by me taking his shirt off in Apres saying 'look at me 6 pack'.

He had his shirt nicked so went home in the taxi showing all and sundry his now even more well known six pack !

Never liked the Nob.

A decent player on his day, but he thought he was a superstar.  His attitude was full of ugly arrogance.

He seems far more interested in having a flash car than actually achieving something.  Players like him are a lot of what is hard to stomach about the game at the moment.

Heres the particularly flattering picture they use on his wikipedia page, I guess whoever put this up doesnt like him much either.

I remember him coming on as a substitute at QPR for his debut, and wrecklessly piling into one of their players in front of the dug outs. Im sure Ray Wilkins was playing for QPR and was straight over to the Ref asking him to be lenient.

Paul Hendrie, did okay in his time at Tamworth but couldn't quite go the final step and get us into the Conference.

Incidentally, Lee's younger brother Stuart is on trial at Morecambe. (That's the football club, not the court)

I met him at some horrible little nightclub in Tamworth. I was p1ssed up and told him how much I didn'tlike him.

We had Joey at the time, and I told him how Joey and Ian Taylor would boss the midfiled without him.

He scurried off without replying.  Felt quite bad, but put it down to years of frustration watching the little worm

Always wonder what would have become of him had he had a decent manager to put him in his place.

Starting out he was in the same England U21's as Frank Lampard, and looked the brighter prospect of the two.

Bit of a twat, but he's not on his own there as far as modern footballers are concerned.

I always find that possibly a misleading line. Maybe his wage demands aren't excessive. Maybe Aberdeen don't have enough money to pay him what would be the 'normal, 'average' amount.

Meh, he's a bit of an arse but he was passionate when he was here.

I could see his obvious personality flaws and never really took to him, but I didn't mind him.

Hoped he'd get one final chance under MON and unleash some of the potential.

Someone I go the Villa with knows him relatively well, comes out with loads of soundbites. Lee saying Ashley is 'nothing special' apparently.

Actually you're right they don't pay that much.

However, with Lil' Lee's career having denigrated to such a level due to his attitude and abject failure to live up to his talent that he can only get a contract at a club who will pay him a weekly pittance perhaps he should just demand less?

EDIT: Also heard they offered a contract to Hendrie that will make him their highest earning player.

Played the second half, likes to be known as "Jim" these days apparently!

I didn't go but from spurious reports he played well and was very unlucky with a volley he set up for himself.

Sounds like he is at least working hard to try and get signed. Can't believe nobody would take a chance on him if his wage levels are reasonable... especially if he is able to present glowing references from Nigel Clough and Gus Poyet.

Shame he couldn't have made the same effort in his prime, could've been a star.

Interesting, the comment about Tony Pulis being good to him (and Hendrie did well during his loan spell at Stoke) but Bryan Robson and Sheffield United came in and offered him more money. Had he stayed at Stoke he'd be more than likely in the Premier League with them now, and they'd be able to pay more than what Sheff Utd offered. The last big mistake in a career blighted by them.

And the comment on playing for England under Hoddle reads wrong - either Hendrie or the journalist have poor memories. He was called-up for the Czech Republic friendly in Nov 1998 for his debut - he was never in contention for the World Cup the previous summer (he only made his breakthrough during the last few months of 97/98 when Gregory came in). Keegan took over a few weeks after his Fulham side had dumped us out of the FA Cup at Villa Park when Hendrie and Villa were abject and which was the start of our awful slide down the table.
