From Pravda (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/ClubNewsDetail/0,,10265~2093418,00.html):
Thank you to supporters for the tremendous interest in the club's new kit, which was unveiled today at the ICC Birmingham, marking the launch of our new partnership with foreign exchange traders FxPro.
As soon as we have a confirmed date from shirt manufacturers Nike, we will announce the on-sale date and begin the pre-ordering process.
We appreciate your patience and will continue to do everything we can to make the new shirt available as soon as possible.
Please log on to www.avfc.co.uk for regular updates and the latest information and for all the latest news ahead of the new season.
Thanks!

In other words the club have no fucking idea.I hope this is the last season we get screwed by Nike!
-
Exactly. Seems to me we have had a pretty crap service off Nike, although I do like some of the gear they have released.
It won't be until after 1st August as they are doing a competition to win one if you spend over £35 at the club shop before that date.
-

to be fair to nike, the club pissed about getting a shirt sponsor until mid-june.

Fair point.
-
Patience you lot. It'll take those Indonesian children a few weeks to knock all those shirts up.
-
We should still have a date for it going on sale though.
-
Before Nike can sell the kits they need to make a specific number of shirts, (large one, at that) enough so they can supply all the stores (Villa store, JJB, Sports Direct, online-stores, etc).
As Villa didn't agree a new shirt sponsor until June then it's going to take longer than a month for them to create the thousands of shirts they need to fill the original quota.
Be patient. As soon as they have realised how many shirts they can make per week/month then they'll let the club shop know when they'll be getting them in stock.
Pre-orders are often classed as a different sale, as they have to make surplus for the shop(s) too.
-
Before Nike can sell the kits they need to make a specific number of shirts,
any specific number greater than zero would be a start.
I think we are all curious as to how come Liverpool can organise a new shirt, a new sponsor, have it manufactured and on sale in the shops in early June, but Aston Villa can't.

The shirt design was probably finalised months ago. But AVFC turned round and told Nike that they weren't going to have Acorns, so Nike just kept it on hold until the deal (with FxPro in this case) was finalised. And as we all know this wasn't until around a month ago.
Then, they had to work out what the sponsor was going to look like on the shirt and how they would fix it on there (adhesives).
Plus: Liverpool are supplied by Adidas, for all we know (and I'm not an expert) they may have a much greater team doing these kind of things.
I just Googled it (out of boredom at work) and Liverpool's deal with Standard & Chartered was confirmed September 2009 (LINK (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/liverpool/article6831489.ece)) whereas Villa's with FxPro was in June this year (LINK (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/ClubNewsDetail/0,,10265~2068264,00.html)).
I love the new kit, and I am eagerly anticipating the day I can purchase it, but I'm happy to wait.
-
i know nike is a big name, but I reckon this season's coming shirt looks very bad, last few seasons have been Ok. I'd back Umbro for a good looking top though. I always think the kits of late 70's til we had the le Coq kits were the best ones. (Le Coq kits looked good too)
If they had stuck with ACORNS they wouldn't have had to be concerned by a new sponsor etc
-
Release the kit in town infront of lots of people and camera and then we still don't even know when it'll be on sale.
We are bright.
-
We should still have a date for it going on sale though.
Seconded.
-
We are bright.
No .... the futures bright ....at the moment we are still playing at it !!!

FYI:
ProDirectSoccer.com have the new Villa strip as 'due in 26 days'. I'm unsure of the accuracy, but it may be a sign... (http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/prodinfo.asp?PID=PDS-010-009-176&BRAND=0&SS=1&GROUP=ASTONVILLA)

Due in 27 days now.
I doubt we will get this kit before the season starts.
Shambles.
-
The last that I heard from AVOS (I can't verify this, btw as it was a while ago) is that it was going to be on sale on the 13th August. The day before the season beginning.
I hope not. I don't want to be in the rush the day before my birthday to get my hands on the shirt.
And I don't trust the mail order service.
-
The new Villa shirts will be £55.
-
Don't like the new home kit
(http://www.avfc.co.uk/javaImages/fc/ef/0,,10265~8908796,00.jpg)
-
£55? That is scandalous-I will wait till march and get it for £15!
-

No me neither, it looks very cheap and dated. I read somewhere that it was an old template?
-
It's a template of the old Lens kit from a couple of years ago.
Quite like the new Wigan shirt, and their prices. A claret and blue kit like that would be swish!
-
I am not a massive fan of the new home shirt, although I would have bought one as I have bought the new kit every season for years and years.
However, given that they are going to be £55 makes it much easier to justify my decision so say fuck it, I don't really like so I ain't having one.
-
Hmmm... it looks very baggy compared to the tailored stuff we've had recently.
Also not a fan a claret socks.
But, blue sleeves, claret body, so they've got the main thing right!
-
I just think a Blue V around the neck instead of Claret would have made a massive difference
-
As far as kits go its okay doesnt really inspire me and I think the socks look shocking
-
Wigan's kit is fifteen quid cheaper than ours (and nicer).
I will add nothing more for fear of upsetting the "Villa can do no wrong" contingent.
I have added the "Villa can do no wrong" bit simply because I know it will upset certain posters!
I love the internet.
-
The new Villa shirts will be £55.
Surely not? It'll be a trip to Sports Soccer for quite a few people if that's the case i'd guess.

Agree it reminds me of the one a few years back made by hummel with the chevrons. It just looks cheap.
In fact it does not only look like that kit it looks just like the version of that kit I own which has been faded by nearly five years of washing and use.

I was gonna say that Clampy, I better get myself down there sharpish! I don't want to have to pay full whack, £55 is scandalous
-
A brand with checks.
I don't like the collars, they look a bit flimsy ( if that makes sense!).
Football sihrts are always a rip off, most fans who buy them are used to it - it's successful conditioning in action.

You make it sound like it's the first time AV have ordered shirts.
You make it sound like Nike aren't very experienced at this sort of thing.
Perhaps it's more to do with Nike having a pecking order for clubs ....
-
Can't they just get those nimble fingered 9 year olds to sew faster?
To be honest, I'm no fan of Nike, but if the club is going to fanny about in trying to sort a sponsor until so late on, you can hardly blame them for taking time to sort the shirts out.
55 quid, though.
Anyone who pays that is absolutely hatstand.
-
That's their problem (Nikes), I think they've got a little more entrepreneurial of late.
-
55 quid, though.

Are the shirts genuinely going to be £55?! Where is this listed? Haven't they been £45 since the 90s? £45 is pricey - £55 is just silly!
-
Listed as £49.99 on the provided link. £55 is an unsubstantiated post from PTV.
-
Depends where you look.

Provide the source.
-
Its a trasdition between me and my dad that we buy each other a shirt for our birthdays every year - both of ours in September - so I'll have to get one or the other. I hardly ever get the away kit but may have to as I'm not a fan of the check nonsense on the home kit.
-
I'll stick with the retro option, might even roll out my old yellow shirt with the old round badge (the last one to have it on i think) for a match.
-
If they're selling that I may be tempted. With that tracksuit top that was posted a while back.

They wont be £55 in Sports Soccer and I dont give a shiny shite that Villa wont get the money directly.

I've got that shirt and I wore it a Goodison a few years back (The Ashley Young last minute game).
I felt like a king for the day.

Maybe I'm wrong but aren't Littlewoods catalogue stuff normally abit more than your "normal" prices for shopping ?

I've found them cheaper than the club shop in the past.

Paul, I must admit that I have never used Littlewoods apart from doing the pools and would not know if they are cheaper or not, but £55 is very expensive for the playing jersey and I bought the new purple polo shirt for £30 and thought that was reasonable.

-
Littlewoods were selling last years shirt at £49.99 - they add a few quid on as most of their sales are weekly payment options.
-
I usually stop at the Fort on the way up on the first day of the season and get mine then.....complete with the "just out of the packet look" :-)
-
Don't the sports shops like JD Sports sell them at the best price ?
-
Why couldn't we have the Arsenal kit in C&B?

West Ham have got their kits nailed this year.

-
Why couldn't we have the Arsenal kit in C&B?
Because fans would complain it was just Arsenal's kit in claret and blue.
Besides, their kit is just last seasons Villa away kit in red and white.
Oh yes, and West Ham's kits, as usual, are fucking shite.
-
Oh yes, and West Ham's kits, as usual, are fucking shite.
Not many would be complaining if we had a home kit like theirs, it's almost a classic Villa shirt that.

It looks like cheap polyester, like something from the bargain bin in suits+. The sponsor logo is horrible. I'm not keen on the collar. But its not even close to the worst West Ham kit I've seen.
I'm not overly keen on our home shirt this season but its much better than that. And who in christ's name are macron?
Their away is awful. Garbage.
-
It looks like cheap polyester, like something from the bargain bin in suits+. The sponsor logo is horrible.
Our logo with that fuck awful "Trade Forex Like A Pro" is the worst I've ever seen on a shirt. I know logos aren't there for their stylish looks, but ours really is pathetic.
-
Re: West Ham Kits.
I wasn't on about the material.
I was on about the designs.
Much prefer the style of them to ours.

Its not great but I would rather that than SBOBET in gigantovision.
What the fuck is SBOBET anyway? Isnt he that bloke who had his cock sliced off?
-
West Ham

Der Hammer.
You can tell Tommy is thinking "this just isnt right, theres only one team that play in claret and Blue "
-
Plus I reckon their kit looks better.
-

The home kit looks pretty good but I'l wait to see it in the flesh as theirs are always more purple than claret.
-

Isle of Man company, just round the corner from where I work.
-

But I'd expect you to say that Maz!
I have no idea what the quality of the material is like from that picture, their sponsor logo is no worse than ours and at least doesn't have a really wanky tagline, I have always liked a proper collar on a shirt (that may be just me but it reminds me of Yorkie wearing his up, and I kinda liked that), and it's absolutely classic claret body - blue sleeves, if that was our design you would love it and you know it.
As for the manufacturer, who really gives a shit, it's not like Nike have been doing anything spectacular with our kit (although some of the leisure wear is pretty good this season).
The WHU away kit is shit though, I'll give you that.
-
I'm not sure what you're getting at Dave. I genuinely think those kits arent up to much and I prefer ours.
Also, is our shirt not claret body, blue sleeves?
-
It looks like cheap polyester, like something from the bargain bin in suits+. The sponsor logo is horrible.
Our logo with that fuck awful "Trade Forex Like A Pro" is the worst I've ever seen on a shirt.
I'd go for WHU's 'Dagenham Motors' or Brightons 'NOBO'.
-

Fair enough. It's just that I expect a slagging off of anything done by almost any other Premiership club from you and you seldom disappoint!
And yes, ours is, but with some annoying squares down the side which just don't look very good (in my opinion). Going only by photos, West Ham's kit looks more like a proper (that is, traditional) Villa kit than ours does, maybe in the flesh it will be different?
-
I dont slag off anything done by any other club at all. There is one or two things some of the others get right. Sometimes.
