Guess you've all had one from the club?
Waste of money? or a nice guesture?
-
I haven't had one.
Maybe they don't appreciate my support. *sigh*
-
Me neither. Have you not renewed your season ticket, Paul?
-
Nice Gesture!
I've got one :-)
-
Mine went straight in the bin. So, waste of money.
-
I had one and thought it was a bit strange. Especially as it was off Randy and Paul Faulkner and not the team/manager.
-
I haven't had one - what they thanking us for?
-
Thanking us for our support this season. Id imagine they did a search on anyone who purchased tickets at any point this season, collated numbers, printed said number of cards and sent one to every person.
-
I got nothing. No surprise there!
-
Me neither. Have you not renewed your season ticket, Paul?
Nope.
Was hoping for a new Manager.
So now I'm waiting to see if we sign anyone decent.
-
yeah, but can you name all the players in the middle holding up the thankyou boards ?
-
I'm feeling somewhat left out here. I'm going to check Jon's post.
-
My daughter has received one but nothing for me yet
-
I had one and thought it was a bit strange. Especially as it was off Randy and Paul Faulkner and not the team/manager.
You don't think that... nah, we're not that lucky.
-
I thought it was odd. It was addressed to our family c/o me. Waste of money really.
-
When I took it out of the envelope the picture of the flags at the Blackburn game was facing me so that made me smile before I saw what I'd actually received. I think it was a nice gesture. Makes a nice change to bills in any event.
-
I received one.
Good public relations I would say.
It's easy to be cynical but just as easy to be positive.
So I'll be positive.
-

It's the first thing that crossed my mind to be honest.
Guess it's a good bit of PR but it made it pretty swiftly from letter box to the bin to be honest.
-
Yeh got 1 of these today
-
I haven't had one.
Maybe they don't appreciate my support. *sigh*
Maybe they don't like your too common seats?
-
Haven't received anything.
-
Waste of money.
They can give me a free cup ticket to say thank-you next time.
-
'They' currently have quite a few confusing and contradictory offers on.
-

Aha!
That's what I thought too!
-

Haven't you heard, Mourinho went to Real Madrid.
-

Well, they evicted us from the last ones. Maybe they are trying to tell us something.
-
i've not had one. renewed same time as the old fella and he's had one. He also hat two invites to the Holte when they were doing that and I never got one. Some bastard at the Villa must hate me or something.
-
The one I haven't had is currently not being turned into roach.
-
why is this even an issue?
The club can do very little to show their appreciation when you think about it.
The small cost of printing cards and mailing them to season ticket holders is tiny.
Could be a club like Small Heath, where all you'll get is a £40 entrance fee for a knackered seat.
-

He'll be available in May then.
-
I've had nothing either.
Rather than a card, I'd prefer something that explained what the "loyalty point" scheme was all about
-

Good man.

Well said.
Its nice of them to say thank you, and i thought it a nice touch tbh.
-
Bit late if you ask me - mine's in the bin too.
Come into the 'waste of money' categary.
-
It's a nice touch.
-
Good PR liked the gesture.
-
It's a good job the General isnt around.
I'd ask him to explain the meaning of these "Thank You" cards, I can tell you.
-
I've had one.
Whats better.....?
Someone at our club saying, 'I know, lets send the fans a thank you card for their support last season'.
or
Our club doing the rest as everyone else, and doing fuck all.
I know which one I prefer.
Nice one Villa.
-
I've had one too.
In fact, I also had a call a few weeks ago saying that they had noticed I had been to a few games last season, and would I like to follow that up with a season ticket this season.
All in all I can't fault the club at the moment with regards to PR and the efforts they are making.
Just need a few players!!!

It also has the added bonus of giving the cynics who like to see the downside to everything another opportunity to have a winge. Everyone's a winner.
-
I can't really see anything to knock about it, made a nice change to open something that wasn't trying to flog me a credit card to be honest (that's a whole other, Off Topic thread just there!).
And it's a classic photo inside (for me anyway).
-
Had mine yesterday, I think it's a nice little touch and good PR from Randy.
Love the page spread photo of the youth cup team circa 1973.

I'd have said it was the youths from 75/76.
Mine is on the mantlepiece with all the 'congratulations' cards regarding the new bab. Like them, it is much appreciated.
-
Nice gesture, and great photo choice in the middle but I can't work out if it's from Bolton 75 or Spurs 77.
The absence of MON's signature is intriguing.

It's getting me excited.
-
I've had one too.
In fact, I also had a call a few weeks ago saying that they had noticed I had been to a few games last season, and would I like to follow that up with a season ticket this season.
Now that's more like it !
-
Had mine too this morning, very impressive as I only went to a few home games last season but a stack of away games under someone else's (from here) name (though I did pay for the tickets with my own credit card!)
-
It's always nice to get something through from the club. It's also to try and get more people to renew, so hardly a waste of money, and certainly not something to moan about.
-
Opened it, was surprised that MON signature wasn't on it, threw it in the bin. Some will appreciate it, others won't.
-
As a kid growing up in the Aston area the club always sent christmas cards to the local residents. That was a nice touch and whatever reasons for doing this now, its still nice to get something frpm them. At least they're trying.
-

1975. John Deehan's on it.
-
I think it's a nice gesture. It may as well have been worded, "please come back".
-

Got to be the end of the 75/76 season hasn't it? The end of the previous season, everyone was on the pitch following promotion against Sunderland. The end of 76/77 Deehan was a star player.
-
just got mine in the post and was it not the youth team players with the placards. You can clearly see in the background Graydon in normal kit.
So some of the 74 FA youth winners at the Sunderland game ?
-
I got one. To be honest I am a cynical sod and the first words out of my gob to the wife were "season ticket sales aren't going well then".
-
Apparently, they are.
-
It's the 'Thank You' banners after winning the 1975 League Cup final.
-
Got ours, only one between us mind.
I'm indifferent to it to be honest. Maybe it's because my replacement Warwickshire members card arrived in the same post (a day bloody late so I missed last nights 20/20).
-
Personally thought it was a nice gesture.
-
i'm in the nice gesture camp, although I do think they could have used the money to buy the new players!!!!!!!!!!!! (joke!!!!!!!!)
Wasn't the one to the right of Deehan a centre half (Charlie Young maybe)
and the one on the right end, Frank Pemberton?
-

As I recall, it was always (well, for about three seasons anyway), the youth/reserves walking round with the placard while the first-teamers warmed up.
And we won the FA Youth Cup in '72, not '74, although some of those pictured dominated the Southern Junior Floodlit Cup for a few years around that time.
-
Nice gesture. Although, as a copywriter I'd like to think that somebody could have proofed the grammatical errors out of it first. It's terribly written.
-
I got one, and i'm not a season ticket holder so guess its gone to all fans that have been to games this year?
Was quite suprised as had read this thread on the way home and wasn't expecting one not being a season ticket holder.
-
Probably a bit of a waste of money but a nice guesture none the less.
-
Got mine and I liked it. Cheers Villa!
-
I got one today. I'm in the nice gesture camp as there are too many moaning minnies with shares in Citalopram.

Ditto

It also has the added bonus of giving the cynics who like to see the downside to everything another opportunity to have a winge. Everyone's a winner.
And the added bonus of giving those who praise everything Villa do to the skies the opportunity to have a pop at those who don't so we can have a few more fucking pages of the same tedious arguments from the same tedious people.
*Winky thing to show I'm sort of joking or summat*
-
Mine's arrived. Straight in the bin.
A waste of time and money
-

That made me laugh.

When my sister sent thank you cards after her wedding, I said the same. She argued that is was a polite thing to do, would be seen as a nice gesture, didn't cost to much and relationships are important. She went on to state that if she didn't send some out certain people would argue about not getting some acknowledgement from them.
Women, eh?
-
I had mine on Wednesday, nice picture from around 1975 in the middle. In the scheme of things it will have cost the club fuck all unlike:
Salifou
harewood
Sidwell
NRC
Beye
That's what you call a waste of money
-
Ive asked my postman to direct all my nice post directly to the bin. Saves me the trouble.
-
It's a nice touch, you don't often get "thank yous" off the people you spend money with.
It's cost the club £10k-£15k? so it's not as it's broke the bank and it probably will act as a reminder to a few people to get season tickets... it would only need 30 odd re-newals (out of 30000 cards sent out) to make it worthwhile.

They are a serious waste of money, don't give MON a penny.
-
Forlan
the Djemba twins
Berbatov
Veron
That Ferguson is lucky to hang on to his job aswell!
-
Edit: Can't be arsed.

Got my card yesterday. Promptly fed it to my document shredder.

How to post in this thread: Template.
Received my card *insert date or day*.

Add no more text to reinforce indifference.

I havent received one
I'll be on the phone to Nicky Keye in a bit, demanding to be sent a Thank You card so that I can shred it at once and force feed it to the kids.
-
What about a prize for the most imaginative means of disposal? Maybe an accompanying photo of the disposer pouting like a spurned teenager with the remains?
-

They exist every bit as much as those who like to see the downside to everything. How much that actually is is in the eye of the poor viewer who sees every bloody thread go down the same route because of the same posters.
-
Dave, im concerned. I dont feel strongly either way on this issue. On the plus side, its a nice note, and appreciated. On the downside, how much did it cost and will it now mean that instead of getting Sneider, we may only get Carlton Cole. But most concerning is that my view does not fit with either of the polarised views of this thread. I feel left out. Still, Germany lost today, and France have just about fluffed it yesterday, so hey ho!
-
May I suggest Moet, that you be disgruntled about receiving the card but refrain from destroying it. That way you can remain something like neutral.

You only have to look at this thread to see why. It's a thread about a marketing card sent out by the club which, as per fucking usual, some bright spark decides that what we need is yet another discussion about Martin O'Neill's transfer policy.

I agree and it is a bit annoying when it happens on a thread about fucking cards for fecks sake.
-
I didn't get a card yesterday, but if I did, I'd have origamied it into a voodoo doll of Emile Heskey, and posted it to Stoke.

Fair enough. I was trying to remember who was praising us to the skies after the Chelsea defeat, for instance.
I do seem to recall some victories where people post various theories about the opposition to explain how The Villa, a boring team with a crap manager, actually won.
-

-
Well, I was chuffed to get mine. I think it's a very nice gesture, and even my missus - who normally couldn't give a toss about football - was quite impressed with it. Great photo and all - proud history indeed.

It's raining today after a week of good weather, fecking Oneill, needs sacking allowing this to happen and by the way what about all the money wasted on transfers.

Ex-fucking-actly.
But just because one of the miserabalists has a quick poke to see who is biting, do the HC's have to jump in and start the whole bloody cycle off again?
Stupid question, yes of course they do, it's second fucking nature to both sides now.
Here's a plan - if you see a post that is obviously trying to start yet another tedious "Good Villa / Bad Villa" yawnathon, ignore it, it's dead easy, I do it all the time.
-
Fair enough. I was trying to remember who was praising us to the skies after the Chelsea defeat, for instance.
Well to defend the indefensible would have been difficult for even the most ardent!
-
I find the best option is to take the piss to be honest. If somebody is moaning or criticising the receiving of a thank you card, it's so pathetic it doesn't really warrant any serious comment.
-

In that case, you should send Villa a thank you card thanking them for their thank you card.

It's usually you who posting it. <winky thing just in case you're hungover>

Yes, but I did it just to prove you couldn't ignore it.
And you couldn't, so that proves it.
I win.
So there.
-
I haven't received a card. I'm debating whether to be offended or glad I don't have to worry about recycling the card and envelope.

I haven't had one either. Sister has though.
