Mines got to be the 1994 match vs Man Utd but 1996 wasnt bad either! I have included all of them for completists, masochists and on the chance that someone might have really enjoyed their day out despite Villa losing.

I voted 1996 because I was a bit older and a little more crazy about villa than I was in '94 when I was still just discovering them!

1977, not for the excitement while they were looking for the bandsman's spur at Wembley.  But for the 3rd game at Old Trafford - trailing for ages, but remaining confident Saunder's boys would triumph.

It's 1994 for me.  First trip to Wembley in ages, first trophy in ages, massive underdogs to the media darlings who were going for their treble.

From 20 minutes in it was never really in doubt - the whole country rejoiced with us (apart from the Mancs and Noses ofcourse).

1994 was brilliant for me beating that lot and stopping their treble dreams tops it for me.

It was more relaxing in 96' we had the beating of Leeds and we were a better team than the one in 94' who, were 12 months past their best.

96 for me I couldn't get a ticket for 94 so that made the game against Leeds more special plus it was my first trip to Wembley.

Has to be 1994.  I wasn't nervous at all on the way down there, after that semi final it was obvious our name was on the cup.

Feel the same this year, don't care who we play, bring it on.

1994  Villa 3 Man Utd 1 Just a perfect weekend.

Top Saturday night out around Covent Garden, Villa fans everywhere that night. Fantastic atmosphere.

Sunday we were knocking on the door of the Globe pub on Baker Street. Amazing session there, great laughs taking the piss out of the plastic Mancs and will never forget the bemused look on the faces of the tourists on the open top buses going past.

As for the game, unbelievable stuff.

Oh and don't tell me that Man U fans don't care about the League Cup. I have never seen fans so gutted at losing a game.

If you're planning to go down just for the day this year, I advise you revise those plans. Go for the weekend, you won't regret it.

1994 for me as it was the first time that I'd seen Villa at Wembley in a proper cup final.

As TMWAS said, our name was on the cup: I never once contemplated that we'd loose that match.  Strange, considering we were playing the reigning champions - and the team that would end the season winning the traditional 'double'.

In the context of the club's re-birth, 1971 and 1975 were both important milestones.

I waqs at that one also. Remains my favourite as does the programme. I played the campaign games in the kitchen for months afterwards. Both us and Everton!

1971 v Spuds. Ok, I know we lost but to come from where we had been and play like we did was some achievement. I remember the players doing a lap of honour at the end and even the Spurs fans were chanting Villa. Awesome day and I was, as I am to this day, proud to be a Villa fan

I watched the decisive game of the 1977 Final on DVD the other week and loved the way the game flowed, the players stayed on their feet and generally got on with things.

Late on, some young Everton lad gives away a pretty reckless free-kick near their area and one of their older players chastises him for it and tells him to calm down.

Before my time, but such a joy to watch. Going to watch 1994 and 1996 next, but I suspect I'll go for 1994 purely for having been there.

The Everton one at Old Trafford - how Brian squeezed his first goal in from the touchline was amazing, Chris Nicholl's thunderbolt and the stunned silence from the Everton fans after Brian's winner. I remember Ron Saunders' reply to a reporter before the game who asked "who wants to win a League cup in Manchester on a Wednesday night anyway?"- as deadpan as ever "well, we do". Great stuff.

Got to say 1977 as the first game is the only Leauge cup final I've actually been and watched before now.

It was all a bit much for a nine year old Jeffries though, I was ill for two days solid afterwards.

Will it be any different now I'm 42? I'm not banking on it.

Although I was at Wembley in '77 (I remember nothing about it, although it was my 7th birthday which may be why). And '94 was great as we were underdogs.
I've gone for '96 as there were no nerves, no stresses, just pure enjoyment that we were a class apart from Leeds and there was only ever going to be one winner.

1994.  I remember my Dad driving us down, and he kept saying "Whatever the result, make sure you enjoy the day" I was 10.  And sure we were going to win.

I remember beng stood on the plastic seats at the front.  We were to the right of the goal, can't remember how far back.  I remember waving my "Big Fat Ron's, Claret & Blue Army" flag for the entire match, and the build up before.  We didn't know Kanchelskis was sent off for his handball until we'd left the ground.

1996 was brilliant too. We were in the Olympic Galary at the top of Wembley, slap bang on the half way line. The stand was so rickerty, I was terrified we'd fall through the stand if we stood up, but what a day!

I'll admit to watching them both last Saturday morning and bursting into tears and the thought of going again!

I voted for this as it was my first experience of a Villa triumph. I went to every round except QPR away (at Loftus) and have so many mad tales from that wonderful year the young 'uns don't believe them. I never saw Sir Brian's goal that put us 2-1 up until I purchased the video about 15 years ago. I had been on the floor after Nichol's thunderbolt and completely missed it!

1975. My first trip to Wembley. Sat next to a Norwich supporter who was mightily miffed when Graydon knocked in the rebound.

Had a ticket for the '71 final but gave it to a mate so that I could get married that day.

Sadly, not the only bad decision I've made in life.

Memories of the 1975 League Cup Final

Born in South Birmingham, I have been supporting the Villa for nearly sixty years and moved to Australia in 2007.

In the sixties and seventies was working in the Theatre and TV professionally.

In 74/75 I was appearing at The Victoria Palace Theatre in London with Max Bygraves (another Villa connection as he was also a supporter due to his close friendship with Harry Parkes).

Max, knowing of my support, asked, one day, if I fancied going with him to Wembley for the LCF against Norwich. There was only one problem! We had two shows to do on a Saturday and as the first one was at 6 o/clock we would have to leave before the final whistle, he would arrange, however, for his driver to be waiting right outside Wembley to rush us to Victoria.

Needless to say the seats were great, right next to the Royal Box, but the game was not the greatest. (I had memories of 1971 and the disappointment at seeing us lose to Spurs). It was still 0-0 when we had to leave.

We got outside the stadium and there was a big roar which quickly died (obviously not a goal), all quiet for a few moments then chanting which then died down (no idea which fans were cheering), then a huge oooh, a moments quiet and a huge roar.

Frustratingly for us not a clue as to what had happened! Just then the car arrived and the driver was able to tell us that Villa had a penalty, Ray Graydon had hit the post but had scored from the rebound. (Suddenly the above made sense!).

Needless to say the shows that night were performed on a real high, although I had to wait till the next day to actually see the goal.

(Very different memories in ’77 driving up and down motorways – London, Sheffield, Manchester…’94 outplaying Manure…’96 overwhelming Leeds).

Will be with you all in spirit on the 28th.

Got to be '71 for me. We were the better team and the fans were brilliant. The atmosphere was amazing simply because we were such underdogs ( old third division) and yet had outplayed Manu in the Semi. We had nothing to prove and had no fear.

Will never forgive Andy Lochhead though...

I was at the BFR '94 too but it somehow did not have the same sense of achievement even though we lost in '71 and beat Man U in '94.

No, it doesn't make sense to me either.

96 Leeds, went expecting to win, did the job in style, had some great seats and great views of Taylors and Yorkes goals.

Singing Yorkes song after the game was great too.

The whole day  just perfect, used the experience of 94 to plan the trip properly, and drank a pub opposite Euston dry afterwards... packed pub, all celebrating and sticking New York, New York on the jukebox and the whole pub singing.

Waking the neighbours up at some silly time in the wee small hours singing Villa songs when we ot back to the house and them not caring as they were Villa fans too.

'94 - a year after being devastated we didn't win the league, to take the treble away from them was great.

But without tempting fate, I'm more excited about this year's final than the two other LC ones I've seen since I've been a Villa fan.

Definetley 94 for me. I travelled down on a west midlands travel timesaver bus in the days i went with the offical travel club. No one gave us a chance and our victory was a real upset.

I think the best final was 77 though it looked a great game watching it on dvd, and the suppport by the villa was amazing. I love that A.V.F.C chant that was sung throughout the match, we should bring it back!

I mentioned some time ago about the chant - a cracker and very atmospheric.
I went to all 3 of those matches in 77 and the bore draw at Wembley was more than compensated for by the final final at Old Trafford.

I couldn't get a ticket in 94 and it really pissed me off, having seen them all since 71

Yorke and Milosevic weren't bad?

The past number of seasons there haven't been stand out strike partnerships in the way there was in the 1990s with Sheaer and Sutton, Yorke and Cole etc etc.

Now it seems that teams just have one out and out striker, Drogba, Torres, Rooney etc. I miss the old days....

Got to agree with Paulie, great story, Desi!

I was also at the 75 Final, dressed in a Claret and Blue top hat my mother had stayed up all night making, but the 77 2nd Replay was the real special one. A game that had everything, us with a weakened team but a never say die attitude. Young Sid, Big Chris, Budgie and the lord himself, Brian Little. Apart from Rotterdam, never has a Villa team lived up so much to the lines 'AVFC - Aston Villa are Magic'. We most certainly were living the dream.

1996 was a great game for the way we were totally and utterly in command all the way through. We mullered Leeds and I loved it. I've never felt so relaxed watching Villa at a big game.

I have particular memories of 1977 because I was in the Merchant Navy and away at sea at the time. We were somewhere in the Indian Ocean I think, and I stayed up until about 2am to hear the result of the second replay on a very crackly BBC World Service sports bulletin.

My favourite has to be 1994 though, because of who we beat, and because we were considered such underdogs, and also because it was the first time I had seen Villa at Wembley.

Unfortunately I won't be there this year because I haven't been to enough games to get a ticket, but my daughter and I will be watching on TV and hoping for a repeat of the '94 scoreline.

I lost my dad six months ago. He first took me to see the Villa in 1966 and kindled a lifelong love affair, and I'd like to think he'll be watching from somewhere too.

1996. Was my first season where i'd been going down regularly (nearly every home game) and can remember being so excited when we got our tickets. Had a great seat and view, just the whole day out, the coach journey there and back, seeing Wembley for the first time in person, and the Villa winning of course! The next day I was back in school and my french teacher at the time was a Leeds fan who'd gone to the game so spent the whole lesson winding him up, to say he wasn't impressed would be an understatement!!!

94 for me. 1996 was a great day, drank a skinfull with some great Leeds fans and won 3-0.

But In 1994 the Utd fans were so arrogant from the start and to be honest nobody thought we'd win with the strength of their team at the time. But we did & we were great!

I'm sure we had one of the first renditions of "F*ck all, you're gonna win f*ck all" when we were 2-0 up. I remember watching the game back later and Kevin Keegan desperately trying to talk over it because it was so loud!

Vague childhood memories of '77 and was living abroad in '96 and had to get the result by phone after the final whistle. '94 was fantastic, it's a shame it's only 'an egg cup' and 'they didn't care about it'. Strange they didn't care about being the first team in history to do the domestic treble. I seem to remember seeing a few of the expressions on the faces of their supporters after the game and they looked like they cared at the time. The thrase 'Pig sick' springs to mind.

Wow.

I can remember the 71 final against Tottenham.  I was 10. We were season ticket holders but Dad could only get seats for me and my sisters and he had to stand behind the goal.  I was ok until we met up with him after the game, whereupon I burst into tears.

For the Norwich game (by which time I was 15) we stood together behind the goal, in the lower section.  What a crush.  Dad lost his watch when we scored.

Old Trafford 1977.  This time, me, dad and my sisters were together.  What a glorious night.

Thanks Dad.

Toss up between Tottenham and Leeds.
Tottenham was my 1st Wembley, we were in the 3rd division and matched, even out played at times, a strong Spurs team. Andy Lochead had one cleared off the line at 0-0, agonisingly Spurs scored just after.
The support was fantastic, There fans had left before us and they'd won.
Leeds, we saw one of the best cup final goals from Savo, and Ian Taylors goal bought tears to my eyes.

Has to be 1994 for me. To beat United and stop them doing the treble was oh so sweet. Just edged out 1996 against Leeds.

I went to 94, 96, 2010

94, outstanding memory of that game is Bosnich's amazing save from Mark Hughes' shot when it was 2-1, I was in the crowd right behind it, and its still the best save I have ever seen.

96 Savo's goal, watching the ball hit the net at the far end, followed by what seemed like a couple of seconds of stunned silence, then ending up on the floor with my mates drunken dad on top of me tearfully screaming "Its Savo! Its Savo!!"
