I must be the odd one out because I really enjoyed the game - until the red card I thought we were chasing shadows largely but fortunate that they picked two pests up front in maupay & Connolly rather than Murray who is an actual goal threat/finisher.  Dale Stephens, If I remember correctly was first choice when we signed Westwood I thought ran the game again until the red card.

Hourihane’s yellow was comedy gold - the incompetent one missed the Brighton player handball, then let Targett off a foul because he’d missed the handball & booked hourihane for a clean tackle? All within 10 seconds :-)

Liked seeing Mings laughing at the Brighton fans singing ‘just a shit Lewis Dunk’ - good lad

Thought Jack was excellent, Heaton very good, the rest weren’t at it for me - McGinn in particular looked shattered.  Targett is sooo slow, he made one or two good interceptions but when he goes forward he is 100% not getting back to stop any break & there seemed a lot of uncertainty betw him & Mings over who attacks the ball.

We beat 10 men 2-0....shame we lost 1-0 to the 11 :-)

Like everyone else this VAR is becoming a farce - until they actually get some independence in the VAR chair it simply will not work, they are protecting each other rather than trying to get the correct answers....& it doesn’t take much to actually tell those of us in the ground what is happening ie announcement that says ‘Aston Villa number 9 fouled the goalkeeper’ - at the moment it is utterly pathetic

My first game this season. My children's first ever premier league game. I was incredibly frustrated at times, although there was some criticism of the slowness of the play around me in the upper trinity in the second half. I liked that we slowed down and passed around a bit. It has the makings of a top side - make them run after the ball. We haven't got it right yet but from little acorns ... Never been so happy with a last minute goal. Even my son who doesn't like it too noisy got his fingers out of his ears and yelled himself hoarse. Winning when not playing well is what will keep us up. Now to Man City and hope for a draw!!!

Brighton were impressive, before and after the sending off. Really important result I reckon.

There really isn’t a better feeling in football than a last minute winner.

Gotta be either VAR or Grealish. Hope it's the latter.

My take.
We need  to cut the basic errors, stop hoofing it to Wesley in the hope that he may actually control it. A new striker Jan is a must. We did look like a Championship team at times.
Grealish was great, McGinn started well but faded 2nd half.
Brighton aren’t a bad team they play well but their defence was not great, we got round them a few times but build up play let us down to exploit it enough.
Subs did well when they came on.
Nice to see us score in the final minute for a change, they kept going till the end.

Wesley and El Ghazi should not play the next match.

Haven't seen the game or any highlights but it is good to get a late goal and another win. Take the three points and move on.

No mention of VAR post-match, plenty of praise for Jack though.

I can only assume it's cos they lost. Grealish diving. Absolute horseshit. Just sour grapes. I am reminding them of  their penalty and Baker red card on last day of season 16-17? Only the ref that day knows why those two decisions were given . Utter utter bullshit.
