I hope West Ham are typically inconsistent as they seem to have started the season well.  I'd be happy with a point to be honest.  I hope that Nakamba starts alongside Douglas too.

I don't agree with the "happy with a point" view to be honest.  If a draw is the best we can hope for at home to West Ham, we might as well slink back down to the Championship now to be honest.  I'm not saying that they're a bad team or that it won't be a tough game, but outside of the established top 6, we should be thinking we can beat everybody else at home.

I agree. To stay up, we'll need to be winning our home games, in the main regardless of opposition.

No way can we be happy with a point at home to West Ham. They are bang average especially away from home. If you accept that every away game in the Premier League is a potential banana skin and home games against the top sides will be hard to win then if we start writing off our chances of winning at home to sides like West Ham we might as well as well just prepare for relegation right now. Home games against the likes of West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, Burnley, Norwich, Sheffield United and Palace are games where we have to be taking three points.

I think we may struggle and possibly lose, but hope I’m wrong.

I’ve kind of gone full circle in my thinking of how we will do this season. Started off thinking we’d finish round about 17th, then was thinking 10/11th. Now I’m back thinking we’ll be on struggle st.

It'll be tough (they all are) and while there's no reason why we shouldn't beat these, I'll go for a 2-2 draw. Grealish and Big Wes with ours.

As others have said, and also on the West Ham forum
"What could be worse than Mike Dean...???

Mike Dean with VAR... "

So the only team that likes Dean is Spurs.

Generally I dont mind West Ham, its just Karren Brady who constantly moans about, well everything, including how they are being hard done by the deal they have at the "London Stadium" (the least thought gone into a stadium name)

Anyway 3-1 to us.  :D

Since Mike Dean’s goal celebration at Spurs, I seem to remember he’s refereed us a couple of times and been very good ( although he may have just appeared to be semi competent in comparison with the Championship Refs we were used to).

Come on you Villa boys! 3 points please would be massive.
After the debacle of kn-bhead Friend, the ref and VAR will be under intense scrutiny tonight, especially from Villa fans.
Welcome back Snoddy but I hope you're on the losing side. Let's keep Villa Park rocking! UTV!

I would like to see a slight change in the way we set up. 4-2-3-1 would suit what we have at the moment:

                    Heaton
Guilbert  Engels    Mings   Taylor

           Luiz   Hourihane

  Jota      Grealish       McGinn

             Wesley

Think we need to support the likes of Luiz in front of our defence

Tempted to go

                            Heaton

Guilbert         Engels       Mings       Taylor

                   Luiz              Hourihane

Jota                     McGinn                 Jack

                           Wesley

subs

Steer
Konsa
Hause
Marvellous (if we need to close game down)
AEG  (If we need to open them up wide)
Trez                       "
Davis

Excellent choice, squire

But isn't Trez suspended and Jota not very good?

When did the man of the match from our last home game become "not very good"?

In the absence of Trez then I would add Lansbury into the sqaud

A few days after the first game of the season I had a dream about this game.

I rarely dream about Villa and it's even rarer that I dream about a scoreline.

But in my dream Villa beat West Ham 4-2 and McGinn scored one of the goals.

So I now have separate bets on McGinn and the exact score.

Do me proud lads!
