Well done Villa boys! A potential banana skin avoided, but that in itself ahows how far we've come under Smith; we have a motivated squad 0f 20+ players. Great news UTV!

I thought Lansbury was having a poor game for about 20minutes with a couple of mishit passes that he did little to try to win back and at least once their got round him far too easily and, again he didn't seem all the fussed. I'm not sure what changed but a minute or 2 before our 2nd he seemed to switch on and press onto one of their midfielders and he just built from there and, as above, in the end he played really well.

In terms of ratings I think TV is about right but I'd be looking at 8s for Jack and Guilbert as well, they came on and had an aura of being a level above everyone else, Jack in particular.

To win 6-1 away with a load of players that haven't played together competitively is decent going.

careful not to read too much into these pre season friendlies ;)

Good move to bring on Jack to I assume play as part of the front 3 as I can see him there more often as the season progresses, especially with the strength of central midfielders we currently have.

I agree, I can see Luiz, Marv/Lansbury, McGinn - Jack, Wesley, Jota/Trez as the midfield and attack a few times through the season but it requires us to play the fullbacks very high to give us width.

I could definitely see him playing on the left of a front three, but the only problem with that is we would need an attacking left back playing to take up the space left when Jack would drift inside.  Targett would fit that bill, but obviously hasn't done quite enough just yet.
