Villa Park was unbelievably loud tonight. I can’t remember a feel good vibe around our club like this for a very very long time.

That was tense at the end, but I thought we deserved to win even though they missed a couple of good chances. Everyone run their nuts off, but special mention to Wesley, his whole game changed after the goal, ran the two centre backs ragged. Engels looks a very shrewd signing, thought Mings distribution was poor, but his positional play was top draw. After a shaky start,  Guilbert was very classy, looked so comfortable on the ball. Jota was good too, they all played a part, Taylor still frustrates though. Great to see VP rocking  long may it continue.

Played some cracking football going forward. We will win a few and lose a few playing like we do but it’s entertaining. Although I though Jota played well
He does leave the right back exposed sometimes as it’s two on one. They just couldn’t capitalise  night.

I had a dream last night we won 2-0. Oooooo!
Did you eat cheese before bed? I feel there maybe a sponsorship opportunity on the horizon.

Cheese....My Mum always said that, how strange.

Had Pizza so yeah. Just glad we won and off the mark, the crowd was superb

Wonderful stuff. Going back to D 1-1 on the pre-match thread as per the end of last season has worked wonders this evening.

I thought Jota did a good job tackling back tonight. He covered almost 6km in the first half and seemed to get a foot in at key times in the corner a few times.

What a night. What an atmosphere.

We rode our luck at times (but we are definitely due some), but as a team unit I thought we were magnificent.

Mings is just a colossus. He will get some goals for free kicks this year.
Engels was also very good. He has an elegance about his game.
Guilbert, I thought in particular, was magnificent. A great buy.

Very pleased for Wes. That wasn’t a finish of someone lacking in confidence. His hold up play is very good. He grew in stature after the goal. I wonder if 4-4-2 would suit him , with a partner.

Jota has some lovely touches and a great ball for the goal.

McGinn, well we know what he brings
Jack was better , maybe not up to full speed yet, but a good game.
Taylor again I thought had a good game.  He’s not the best going forward , and wasted a good opportunity to get a good cross in towards the end. But keeps his place for me.
Anwar brought a fresh pair of legs on and scored at the absolute perfect time.

My first home game in the premier for about four years.
I bloody loved it. We seem to have a team , club and fans that are all as one again. The scenes at the end coincided with me getting some dust in my eye resulting in a few tears until the dust went.

Even the train home was fun.

Weeeeeeeere Baaaaaaaaaack!!!!!

Rode our luck at times, but feels great to be putting teams like Everton away again at Villa Park.  Thought Heaton, Gilbert, Engels and Mings had solid games and thought Douglas got better as the game went on.  Thought Wesley held the ball up well at tines, took his goal well and seems to have that bit of niggle all good strikers have.

We were under pressure for periods of the game, but thought the players put a real shift in and worked hard all game.

Better atmosphere than the play off final, if that’s even possible. Fucking brilliant.
I watched on the TV and can’t recall a better atmosphere.
Sunderland 6-0

Wasn’t it 6-1? My first game at villa park. I was in wm coverage and you lads and ladies there were in fine voice. I’m breathing a sigh of relief now. Let’s get some more points on the board

Villa Park was unbelievably loud tonight. I can’t remember a feel good vibe around our club like this for a very very long time.

I posted on here a couple of years ago that there have been times when the Old Girl that is Villa Park actually rocks with noise and atmosphere, tonight, even watching on TV, it seems tonight was one of those nights.

Indeed! And how bloody great was it that it was showcased to the world on the box. Neville and Carragher were glowing in praise about the place too.
God I love this club! UTV!
