We haven't played badly, but with shown a great level of naivety in our own defensive third and haven't put much in the way of decent delivery into the box.

I'm not sure where the optimism comes from that we should beat Everton. They're a good side and difficult to break down. If we score first,  we have a chance, concede first and I think we'll get beat again.

I need to see that first win to give me confidence we can stay up. I'm conditioned to us being nowhere near good enough for this league and I can't shake that feeling.

Can't see why we shouldn't be winning a game like this.  We were all rightly fed up when we were accused of doing a Fulham in the summer, so I'm not going to sit back and quietly accept doing a Fulham.
Like your thinking and attitude!

You’re right. But naivety comes often comes with inexperience. We have a strong structure at the club now. A manager who wants to learn as well as players who have proven they are responsive to his coaching. They will have studied the last two games and they will know where they have to improve. And it is at both ends of the pitch. Everton are a good team. They will over the course of the season challenge towards the top end of the table. But like most teams at this stage of the season they will be beatable.

My immediate concern is that we look a little lightweight; easy to bully. And, we need to look after the ball better.
Get these right and I think we'll be fine.

I'm hoping to see the minor change of El Ghazi out Hourihane in with Grealish pushed further forward.

Oh and three points!

I like Everton from a distance but am often dismayed by some of their fans and their opinions of Villa. I need thicker skin I guess.

I think we're capable of winning, with en eye on on the type of football played, amount of chances created and possession we had against Bournemouth. That said there's absolutely no shame in a loss here, they are a better team and club than us currently, no question.

I think it's vital that we as fans keep our heads too. If we lose, the media will be stirring it up, making all sorts of nonsense up. Don't buy it, don't let it sink in. There's a whole season to go and so much time and room for our team to grow and improve.

3-2, last minute McGinn special.

Apparently they could have gone top of the league that Sunday if they'd won like they could do tomorrow. So what with that stat (30 years later) I wonder who will step up and be our unplayable Ian Ormondroyd tomorrow night?

I remember clearly one paper compared him to Eusebio!

Maybe this game and the last minute Ashley Young 2-3 game explain why they hate us?

Oh, and when big Ron played a mainly black 11 against them.
