Parking
« on: August 13, 2019, 01:46:42 PM »
I haven't driven to a home game for a while but will have to this season, and am unsure where to park.

Where do you park?

I understand KE Aston is closed this season. I used to park at Manor Park school but found that got full very early if there was anything near a full house.

I've used Power League a few times, but it's a bit of a hike.

I get onto the M6 after match so that side of the ground is better for me.

Powerleague is a bit of a hike?! It's about 10 mins!

I was going to suggest Star City but given the above I don't think that's going to work for you.

Hike or be stuck in traffic?  Star City really is your best bet.  Assuming you are going M6 south, don't join the match queue for junction 6, take the spine road to Castle Bromwich for junction 5 it will be far less hassle.

Might give Star City a try - don't they get arsey about match-goers using their parking?

Try over near Aston Manor Coaches the other side of the Lichfield road a brisk 10 minute walk to the ground. Even with full houses I can leave on the final whistle back to the car and be on the M6 for 5.15.

From M6 take the Express way leave at Park Circus turn into Victoria Road and park in a match day car park on the left £5 or turn into Upper Sutton street and again lefthand side there is a Masjid car park £5. Failing that do what I do and park in the surrounding streets.

No. Because it's an entertainment complex they have a 4 hour time limit so there is not a lot they can do.

Tesco is pretty close if distance is a priority. However, it can be a right bugger to get out afterwards.

I’ve been parking there for years, and as long as you don’t mind the long walk (20-30 mins) then Star City is a good place to park. They actually encourage match day parking (usually a sign at car park entrance) presumably because the bars and restaurants could generate more income...even though I’ve only arrived early enough to do that once or twice!

Tip for escaping Star City:
Turn left out of the complex to avoid the queuing graffic at Spaghetti.
Turn right at next island towards Nechells otherwise you’ll get stuck in traffic near the The Fort.
Carry on back into town as if heading towards the Pot of Beer (or whatever it’s called these days!) and turn right at the dual carriageway to hit the island to jump on the Expressway to M6.

I hope KE Aston isn’t closed because that’s where I’m parking this season.

I park on the wateland car park on Victoria Rd just off the expressway island that Olaftab mentioned above.  It's a fiver and the ground is a bit bumpy.  Sometimes have to wait fo get out as cars are blocked in, but even worse case scenerio is 10 ir 15 mins so I reckon much quicjker than KES.

I park on the backstreet behind what used to be Ruskin Hall.  Never have any issues to be fair not exactly M6 friendly though.
