Being media darlings when football exploded, in London when it became so wealthy they could charge whatever they liked, being able to challenge for the top four at a time when it wasn't set in stone, getting £85 million for a player they were ready to offload to Small Heath for pennies four years earlier. They've done a lot of things right, but they've also had the ball bounce for them a few times.
