I went with the missus to Spurs Milan today and thought they were poor, albeit pre-season friendly

So 1-2 Villa. We’re back.

Before the start of the season and particularly for a new team, this is one of those games that is basically a free hit and any kind of result is a bonus. There’s no shame if we lose this one so it would be great to see a good performance and an indication of how the team is developing...and a bonus if we can get a win of a draw.

1-1.

Random sidetrack :

What year was it we went down there for a night game (I think) and won to go top of the league ? Seats above Park End were massively overfilled, shared my "space" with at least 3 others

And what year did we draw at VP in the FA cup, then beat them 1-0 in the replay midweek?

Two awesome aways.

The Benteke 1-0 was a great result too. 2014/15 I think.

Gone for a draw, we seem to have a fantastic spirit with board, management and players all pulling the same direction (and with no small amount of quality) whereas spurs have had Poch sulking about not getting players in again. I can see us catching them cold but them pegging us back in the 2nd half. 1-1

It has to be a Villa win...I'm interested to see if Douglas or Marvelous get on the pitch.

Gulp...hope it's not one of those 'orrible ones.
39 months since our last sniff of the big-time, hopefully it's less barmaid's apron and more Maradona on charlie.
I thought Nev’s post above was good, but this made me laugh.

I think a draw would be the best we can realistically hope for.  Just hoping we don’t get ripped apart Early on as if we lose we need something positive to take from the game

Hoping we might catch them cold early as can happen but i'd obviously bite your hand off for a draw (I have this down as the 3rd hardest game of the season).

I just want to see a good performance have some fluency and create some chances.  This will take time but I also think that in time we'll have a really good side. 3-1 Spuds.

No Dele Alli it appears. Now if only they could lose Kane, Eriksen, Lloris, Mora and Son also.

Son's suspended.

I'll be long cold in the ground before I feel that against these.

Every time I see Spurs play, I always think Lamela is their unsung danger, and Erikson their best player. And they've got Ndombele now, too. A good player.

Son and Alli out is a big plus for us.

You just know that Deano will have done his homework and we'll be well up for it.
