Reminds me a bit in his style of play as Arteta.  Hopefully he'll be Our 'Teta.
I'm not angry, I'm disappointed.

Just looking at his appearances I didn't realise he played more games for Blues than Brentford and also a bit puzzled about his 2nd loan to Elbar. On further reading he apparently went back to Elbar on loan for personal reasons before being recalled to Brentford.

                                              Games Goals
2013–2014    → Eibar (loan)    35    (11)
2014–2017   Brentford            69    (23)
2016–2017    → Eibar (loan)    18    (0)
2017–2019   Birmingham City    72    8 goals
2019–   Aston Villa

Decent goalscoring record for a player in his position. One goal in five. Hopefully in an attacking Villa side he can do it in the Premier League.

I think he could be our best signing. He could be the key to unlocking a lot of defences.

I think he plays more like David Silva

Not for the first time but we have absolutely fucking mugged those divs down the road. We sent them that stiff Gary Gardner, the born again Nose, and for a couple of mil picked up a player who will really make a difference. Jota arguably has been the standout player in preseason and granted it’s hardly PL opposition it’s been really encouraging.

More or less a swap deal for a crock like Gary Gardner (sorry Gary, I really did like you, nothing personal), for a player that looks every inch like he can make it in the Premier League. Could turn out to be one of our best signings.

What's a 'baller' in footballing terms? I thought it was connected to basketball.

I would guess that the Americanism 'baller' means a skillful player.

If I called someone a baller it would not be a compliment. ;)

I thought it was a US TV series about a former armoured egg-chasing player who becomes financial manager/agent to other players.

I have seen friends and players refer to 'ballers' on social media. Is it another American word we have adopted and adapted to proper football?

Thank you for all your explanations! I've also seen it bandied about on twitter, too. It's almost as irritating as the obsession with describing things as 'lit'. I guess the natural progression would be a litballer complete with obligatory hashtag.

Sighs.
