Big test of Smith this. Can he tactically adjust it to get them into the game more

Got to be said, McGinn and Jack have been totally anonymous. For the impact they can have on a game, if I was Smith I would be getting right into them. We are 1-0 up playing pretty poorly.

Think McGinn has been ok, but Jack pretty anonymous. We need them to get a grip in the second half.

We have been the better team though. Space should open up 2nd half

I had a feeling they might be susceptible to opening up, a couple of those balls through the middle ten minutes previous. They also looked completely shellshocked following the goal which is huge.

Goal just at the right time, we need to be really careful now, Derby have control of the midfield area, we need some brilliance from Jack, really tricky time this, we have the lead, come on you Villa boys.

We've been the better side, i'm not having we were poor. We can be better though which should have Derby worried.

If we can win the European Cup from a scuff off the shin, I'll take a play-off promotion from a scuff off the shoulder.

Jack needs to take the simpler option sometimes. Need to be more in game SH

Not poor. Just a bit average but the better of the two teams

I'll take it.

No I agree, think we were ok but a bit ponderous, Jack in particular. We need to sharpen up.

Just the better side and an added bit of quality from the cross gives us the edge. If we are poor then Derby are more so. If the second half is just as contained we will win, if they open up then our playmakers get more space.

We are 45 minutes from promotion. This next 45 is the difference between spending all summer worrying about FFP and who will replace most of our best players and testing the depths of our owners pockets. This is defining, please don't fuck it up Villa, everything we've come through the last 3 months in particular. I believe in them and their strength of character and ability.

Jacks better closer to goal I think he has to play deeper to give Hourihane cover. McGinn has dropped off the last couple. Derby are targeting Taylor.

An early Abraham goal at the start of the second half and we can Man City - Watford the rest of the second half.

I really don't fancy a last ten minutes at 1-0
