Is it only me or is that just a really shit alternative to Part of the Pride?

Appreciate that I'm late to the party (and I'm only here for the "Cunt-night Anniversary") but, yes, that is a really crap slogan. That said, I still plan to buy an early-bird season card for next season in the second tier.

I agree it can be seen as a bit naff, but the 'Part of the Pride' thing is great for kids. My boy likes all the 'roar us on' flags and being in the cubs club etc. We always pretend to be the lion with the scary flashing eyes on the big screen and compared to that, being 'part of the park' is a bit Walter and the Softies to me (and I am an unashamed softy).

As a marketing tool, it's a bit meh. I'm not sure who it's aimed at. Kids? The more infrequent among us? Swayable neutrals? Ah well, not really bothered, one more unimportant thing to add to the "modern football is rubbish" list.

But I'm taking up the Early Bird offer to renew. As has been said, nine months interest-free is about as close to pay-as-we-play as you can get. I rarely miss a home game, and I'm not writing off promotion quite yet. After yesterday, it's been a very easy decision to take today.

They appear to be using both straplines - there was a poster in the Upper Trinity that had "Part of the Pride" and "Part of the Park" on it. Had a picture of a kid superimposed in an action shot with a couple of players. I was a bit whatever but my boy was "look Dad that kids playing for Villa how cool is that" etc etc.

As a side issue, does anyone know how or where to get hold of a video of that lion with the scary eyes? My girl is desperate to see it but I know her attention span at VP would be 10 mins.

It's absolutely stupid. Pride - I get that; but Park? Who's doing the marketing nowadays, an 18 year old?

'Pride of the Park' would have been better.

Part of the Park is unquestionably SHITE!

Then again, up until last Saturday we had been playing parks football so you can understand them wishing to develop the theme.

It sounds like something Perfect Curve on W1A would come up with.

Maybe the name was inspired by Jimmy Hoffa?

Cringeworthy in the extreme.  But then again all the infantile American style marketing that has been entrenched since the arrival of Randy Lerner is of the same comic book oeuvre.

She’s only been here 6 weeks so I doubt that was her.
