What's our likely 11 for the first CC match next week then? I've not paid much attention to pre-season. Batting looks light without Bell.

The openers hit form at the end of last season so hopefully Rhodes and Sibley will carry that form into the new season. They did OK playing for the MCC in the annual match against the champion county.

Bell is a loss particularly as Trotty retired last year so we need Hain to step up in red ball cricket. His form in white ball cricket has been immense over recent seasons, as was commented on the previous page, he has stagnated in red ball cricket though.

A long day in the field PGW, is there any particular reason for that, pitch, poor bowling etc?

Basically a decent pitch both teams going with a spinner, Bears obviously would as our captain, bowling and batting been fine,
Bears (Sibley) dropped a slip catch.

I've only watched a little bit from the website footage but, for me, it looked as if Miles is a bit raw. We also had another quick (Milnes was it) who bowled very few overs, was he carrying a knock?

Having Woakes and Stone both missing is a blow to the attack.

Good, solid start to the game for the Pears.  Two centurions in Rutherford and Mitchell.  348 for 4. Nicely done.

Not a good start for the Bears. Not sure it was wise to let Barker and Wright go?  I thought Chris  Woakes was available for the first couple of County Championship games? Not good either  that Ian Bell and Olly Stone are both out.

Baker and Wright chose to leave, new contracts were offered to them and they both turned them down, favouring to take longer contracts elsewhere. The club has replaced them but let's give them both time to settle in. Every club has injured players regardless of the sport, Brookes is back and we didn't bowl badly yesterday. A couple of dropped catches cost us and we didn't assert ourselves when they were 200-odd for 5.
