The decision to bring him on really was the most bafflingly stupid decision I've seen in ages.  I also reckon that if one of our U23 players had come on and played like that, we wouldn't see him in the squad again for ages.

To be fair, our defence looked appalling and i thought bringing him on made sense as it should have given us some natural balance back there. Didn't work of course but there's no way i'm going to judge him on that cameo given how long he's been out

I'd be tempted to give him some U23 run outs though to get his fitness up to scratch if we can

Agreed.

In one substitution he showed no faith in Elphick, put a match-unfit defender into a shit storm and left the worst performer at left back.

I see James Collins made his debut for Ipswich and they won and kept a clean sheet! We spent months getting him fit only for Ipswich to come in and give him a deal until the end of the season. Apparently he performed well in their defence - surely we should've kept him on ? I bet he'd have been cheaper than Hause! His experience would've been really helpful in our current situation with such a shit defence.

Agree 100% with you Martin and Olly.  Collectively the substitutions at Wigan were the polar opposite to everything we had hoped to see from Dean Smith.  They were negative, defensive, short sighted and undoubtedly caused deep resentment both in the players used and the players unused.  If Smith is to get the fan support he needs and deserves the Wigan fiasco has to be a one off  very bad day.

They played Rotherham who have the worst away record over three or four season in this league out of anybody.

Hause was bad but to be fair to him,he had Taylor,Whelan and Hourihane playing next to him.Anyone would struggle playing with them let alone a guy who has not played much lately and was making his debut

Looks so uneasy on the ball, first instinct is to smack it down the line (which more often than not, ended up going out of play) he's not a left back.

He won't be here next season if he keeps this up is my guess. CB or LB, he looks lost at the moment.

Looked like a centre half out of position to me.

And not even a good centre half out of position.

Should get some games at CB.

It would actually make sense if we really want to sign him and Mings full time to use the last 14 games to actually see what Hause looks like at CB and if Mings can actually be a good LB.

Problem is with Chester injured/out of sorts this season and Elphick having the odd blunder in him, Mings is our best CB so I wouldn't want to move him.
