Tuanzebe and Taylor
« on: November 25, 2018, 08:37:22 PM »
As a 'not real fan' or someone who has two small children and lives nearly two hours away from Villa Park depending on your ideological purity, I don't see enough of the team to have the insight I'd like.

I used to get really annoyed about Bruce playing our defence out of position but I'm interested to hear what the view of 'real fans' is on how the two 'Ts' are performing. Do we still need a left back and is Tuanzebe any good?

Tuanzebe's doing just fine now he's being played in the right position.

Taylor looks like someone who won a competition on the back of a cereal box.

Taylor put in a couple of good challenges today, but his all round play is still piss poor.  He and Chester were terrible on the left side.

Chester had a bad game today, and Taylor always looks like he's not good enough (he isn't).

Tuanzebe is doing alright now he's at CB.

Taylor just makes loads of mistakes, they had 3 chances today that came from him over-committing and giving their winger time and space to get the ball in. Going forward he's really ponderous, every chance he takes 2-3 touches before trying to cross and it means he loses his space and our timings in the box are all off. A replacement at left back is the top priority for me. Moving Hutton there is not the answer and surely today shows that.

Tuanzebe is fine, his pace at the back is a massive asset and he#s not so easily bullied as he was earlier in the season. We need cover/competition for him still though.

Axel been much better than Chester last two months.

You can tell opposition always pick out Taylor as a weak link. He was poor one v one in a shot they had just after they scored the second, was so easily beaten.

Guess Smith is just playing him as he wants balance on both flanks when getting forward rather than put Hutton there and he has to check back before crossing the ball, would imagine we'll get a loan in January for that position.

Tuanzebe on ground is very good and much too good for most forwards in this League. Tuanzebe in air is below average and easily out muscled by big lumps in this League.
Taylor is horrific.

Taylor has gone backwards since the incident.
But he lacks basic ability for a player at this level, barely adequate.
I think we are still trying to work out why Bruce played Tunz at right back, he is developing into a very decent centre back,in fact he seems to be improving with every game.
Quick, good with the ball at his feet, getting better at the physical side and in the air.

Surely we'll get a centre back in Jan

If we get someone very good, I think tuanzebe will be ahead of Chester if current form continues

We are all real fans.

Taylor has improved since Dean arrived but will be the first to be replaced.  Tuanzebe, for me, is Chester' s longer term replacement and I hope we sign him permanently. Has a bit to learn but is also massively improved.

AT in my opinion is potentially an outstanding number 2 CB. He'd have been superb next to Terry for example and would be next to a player of a similar style. More no nonsense. For me it's how Curtis Davis looked next to Laursen vs when he was asked to be the main guy. Chester again is a solid number 2 CB. He'll generally give you 7/10, quite a few 8's, very rarely above or below. Today he was poor and I think a lot was down to not being fit. Then again it might just have been one of those rare occasions where he had a poor game. It happens.

Neil Taylor. Third and at a push second string LB. That's all and he's giving us that right now.

I thought he should have done more to prevent their second tbh.

I wasn't too sure about us bringing Tuanzebe back at the time but he's been excellent since he moved alongside Chester.

I don't mind Taylor too much. He's better at defending than going forward which I think is what will cost him his place in the long run. I think Smith will want someone who good at attacking as well as defending.

Nah, Hourihane was at fault for their 2nd.  His man scored, and he gave up on him just as they reached the box.

I like Hourihane but I bet McGinn wouldn't have given up on his man.
