Has joined from smethwick as new goalkeeping coach.  Smith worked with him at walsall.  He’s got his work cut out with our three.

Thought he'd died when I saw the thread title. Never got much of a chance for us, think he played in our 0-4 Valentines massacre of Middlesboro...Gazza fucked up his elbow trying to smash Boateng in the face.

Happy with this. He got really got form out of Neil Etheridge who's now a decent premier league keeper. I won't be holding my breath on him doing the same to Nyland though.

Yes welcome back Neil, but bloody hell, if you can make Nyland look halfway competent you'll be a miracle worker.  Shockingly poor.

He came on for about the last 10 minutes in this game and his first touch was nearly an Enckelman.

Very good coach by all accounts, great that Smith is able to get people around him he trusts

"Congratulations Neil, you've got a coaching job at the Villa. But you are coaching the goalkeepers"!

It is like getting a job as a judge on The X Factor and then being told you are mentoring the over 40's  and the novelty acts.

I only skimmed through that but it made me reconsider our time under Gregory. My memory of us then is that we were really negative, but that shows us playing Merson, Carbone and Joachim in attack and we zipped it around nicely. It must be the surrender in the Cup Final that's tainted my view. Or it could be that Middlesbrough were shite.

Also, though I sympathise with the way his life has turned out, Gascoigne could be a real prick.

First thing he needs to do is make Nyland lose the cute haircut, grow some stubble and get some face tattoos.  Make him look like a goalkeeper not a Norwegian male model.
