A Bomb squad for 2018 and beyond
« on: October 25, 2018, 06:25:34 PM »
Of all of the players currently on the books at Villa, my view is the following need to be bombed at the earliest opportunity:

Bunn, Nyland, Richards, Taylor, Hutton, Elmohamedy, Whelan, Lansbury, Jedinak, Hogan, Kodjia, Gardner, Lyden, Tshibola, and fat boy McCormack.

If Grealish doesn't start performing, we need to get rid of him too.

Oh and from a backroom point of view, KMac needs offskiing asap.

I'll be very interested to hear your opinions.

Not bomb squad exactly, but I'd be looking to get a goalkeeper, right back, left back and centre back in January.

Any of those listed wouldn't be missed if loaned/transferred.

Elmo does a decent job.  I'm not writing off Hogan now we have a manager who knows how to use him.  The rest will hopefully be surplus to requirements after the next couple of windows, but no way should we being going down the bomb squad route again.

I stopped reading at Kodjia. Utterly mental suggestion.

Bunn, Richards, Elphick, Gardner, Jedinak, Whelan and Hutton are all out of contract anyway.  Tshibola, McCormack are for sale.  Taylor can go.  Tuanzebe, Bolasie, El Ghazi and Tammy all go.  Not many left for a bomb squad. Lot of work to be done.

How about giving them a chance under a new manager who might just know what he is doing? Not Richards, though. The fat waster can do one.

End of the day every manager will move out who he doesn't want. I'm with them who think everyone should be given a clean slate and that includes McCormack.  Personally, the likes of Jedinak, Whelan and Hutton will go pretty soon because they're past it imo. Tactically i'd go for Kodjia as the main casualty to be sold if we can make any profit to buy new players. Grealish again maybe if it allows him the option to bring in 3 or 4 players. I can't imagine he'd want the loans either long term as he didn't choose them and most of them we couldn't afford anyway. I think we may be surprised who becomes a regular and also those that fall by the wayside.

Grealish has just signed a new contract.

clubs do that all the time - they know a club is interested so they balance paying a wage increase versus his contract and transfer value running down . On Jack's form so far this season, if Smith could get players he wanted through selling him in January and FPP allowing, make the side better overall, i could see him going for it. He's done it at Brentford after all.
