Smith’s post match interview included meaningful tactical analysis and gave the impression he’d actually been at the game. It’ll never catch on.

A win vs Norwich will see us jump above them. That’s how tight it is above us.

Firstly it was great to see a packed Villa Park again and the array of former players who turned out to pay their respects to Doug Ellis before the game.  As for the match itself, I thought we showed attacking intent throughout, even though the quality of the final ball wasn't always there.  We had a few chances to extend our lead before Swansea had some late chances which Nyland made some good saves from (don't quite know how one of them was given as a goal kick!!)

Thought Tuanzebe and Chester did well together and the midfield 3 of Bjarnason, McGinn and Grealish worked well together at times (I don't really know if that 3 is going to be robust enough in the Championship though).

Anyway, good to get a win and get the game today out of the way.  The real work now starts with two away games within a week.

Thought Nyland and Taylor  played  well . Someone from this parish mentioned we would get a bigger attendance than the Chelsea v Man Utd game , we did.

Could have been a high scoring game but for both keepers. Good game for the most The analogy between Nyland and Bozzie is spot on. I’ll take it.

Haven't watched MOTD for years , even when we were in the top flight ( getting our pants pulled down weekly). Our highlights aren't even on Channel 5 now , but a channel called Quest . Always makes me think of this song..

In his first post match interview lasting 1 minute 54 seconds, Smith displayed more knowledge and understanding of tactics and coaching than Bruce did in 2 years.

Big 3 points today, Tammy could have had a hatrick. Liked the way he was geeing up the crowd in the Trinity on about the 90th minute.
Players playing in their normal position, haven't seen this sorcery at VP for a while, pity McGinns booking means he misses Tuesday.

Anyway we will be there or thereabouts if Deano continues to improve the performances!

Great afternoon at Villa Park. Beautiful autumn day, packed house, players playing with intent and intensity, pressing higher up the pitch, keeping a much higher line when the opposition had the ball, three points, clean sheet, tactics (whatever they are) on display, and a new word - optimism. Good times are coming back to Villa. Yes there was some sloppy passing at times, and Tammy & Jack should have put us out of sight with their chances, but to counter that McGinn was a midfield bull terrier (MOTM for me), and fair play to Nyland who made some decent saves to keep us in it.  I'm starting to enjoy football again.

Doug’s tribute was tastefully done and well respected. Cowans, evans, daley, withe, taylor, little amongst 40 odd guests.

And in his first answer he even alluded to...*whisper* sex. Bruce never did that in two years...perhaps just as well.
