A couple of weeks short of the 50th anniversary of his "Revolution" at Villa Park.

Doug did what he thought was right for Villa. I may not have agreed with what he did or the way he did it, often upsetting people who deserved better, but he always had the club as his main focus. Condolences to his family.

RIP Doug..... You had a love/hate relationship with the fans, but you always had the club's best interests at heart

Rest well, Sir Doug. Really sad news, to have lost someone so woven into the fabric of the club.

RIP Doug.
That’s very true and his tenure is starting to fell like the good old days.

RIP - a character to say the least. An 1980s chairman in the 90s and 00s.
Still better that came after

I'll always be grateful to him for rescuing Villa when, on and off the pitch, the club was an embarrassment, a complete shambles. RIP Sir Doug.

A major part of our history throughout my entire lifetime, should have pushed us on in the 90's and made us real contenders at the top (we were so close under 3 different managers), but as others have said more eloquently than I can his love for the club was always there.
RIP Chairman
