Since I've been watching: Sid, Milner, Taylor.

Platt was great for us, but he comes across as a twat so I've not included him.

All-time: maybe Eric Houghton, Mortimer and Sid.

Sid, Platt, Cropley, Townsend, Milner, Barry, Taylor.

Errr...ok, Cowans.

Sid
Mortimer
Cropley, he could have been so good but for Robertson.

Wasn't it Ally Brown as opposed to Ally Robertson?

I stand corrected, it was Ally Brown.

That post is known as 'a quote fail' BV. I would say that you will learn how to quote on here but if you are anything like me you probably won't. After eight years and 18,000 posts I would be very surprised if I don't hold the record for quote fails. Obviously it would be wonderfully ironic if this one ended up in the collection too. ;)

Bruce Rioch was my first hero but have to say Cowans, Mortimer and Cropley for me. I know Cropley didn't reach his potential because of a tesco person, but was brilliant and have hopes of John Mcginn following that. That is my middle 3

Mortimer, Cropley and Cowans - picks  themselves.

Shout outs to: Platt, Bremner, Bruce Rioch and God when he moved forward (he would be in my all time villa team from Goalie to Centre Forward to Commercial Manager.

From my lifetime Mortimer, Cowans and Platt. Norm Crandles would include Danny Blanchflower and Jack Watts would say Gibson, Talbot and Tate.

Joe Tate used to live opposite my Uncle's in High Haden, Old Hill.

Never really appreciated who is was at the time but was lucky enough to chat to his wife after he died and she showed my brother and I loads of his Villa stuff and England caps.  We were about 13 or so at the time and still didn't appreciate what a great player he must have been.

Mrs Tate was a teacher as Reddall Hill I think.  Amazing to think there's lives would be so much different had he been playing today.

My first Villa hero was Bruce Rioch, he was a one-man team at times, but I have to concur with many on here, can't see past Mortimer, Cowans and Platt.

Not sure if my heart and head are confusing my personal favourites with the best midfielders I've seen in a Villa shirt but I'll go with Rioch, Cropley and Cowans.

In my Villa time

Sid - Easily englands best, better than Hoddle.
Morty - See above
Platt - Almost as good as Sid

Shouts to Bremner, Barry and Milner.

High hopes for Jack and McGinn
