Good riddance - exactly the sort of player that isn't going to help Dean take us forward. The housekeeping has begun

Agree.
Never a Dean Smith player in a million years.
If Bruce was still here he'd still be a Villa player until May.

Can we stop with the individual marquee signings and go about building a team unit?

People aren't going to generally moan about this because of his lack of produce overall.

Maybe Bolasie was told he would only be used sparingly and that causes him to leave .
I also aware Smith isn't one for all the crossing from wingers which what the squad was set up for and is a strength.

It's also smells of cost cutting.

Bruce signed Bolasie for a variety of reasons.
I expect he's left for a variety of reasons.

He's been replaced by Andre Green which is decent in many many ways wise and I think Greeny could even play up front.

Anyway good luck to him appreciate his footyskillz & outrageous nutmegs .

Goodbye Yannick
21 appearances.
Had 9 starts 3 assists
12 times as sub. Scored 2 goals 1 assist

In those 21 appearances had 25 shots 7 on target.

Hmm.

He hasn't been too clever the last few games, but then not many of our lot have post Grealish injury.

A feature of our play when we looked lively round Nov-Dec was our wide options and how we could bring a player like Bolasie off the bench to keep up the pressure.

I won't argue that he's been value for money if we were forking out anywhere close to £75k per week. But seeing as Middlesborough were the other side in for him at the time, I'm not sure that figure is accurate.

The facts are Villa were maybe the only club he would play for at this level and how we could also afford.

Short term move but understandable at the time .

Bruce would have him in at Wednesday I'm sure but they couldn't afford and he wouldn't go

I like Bruce to take Elmo off us and even Albert providing have a decent replacement or idea to play without Albert loss making too much impact

thatcherlover on twitter who has been accurate before on signings etc but is staring to become a DS out man has stated that Elphick, Steer and Green going out on loan was to free up the cash for Bolasie's wages so back to square one really now he's gone and they are all back so £70k pw isn't really back in the kitty?

ThatcherLover make a shit up.

One of 'em init. If he'd worked out and we were up the top of the league then you'd still be a bit dubious about signing him permanently if we went went up because of his age and his cost. As it is, he's not worked out, he's not a DS signing and you feel the money on wages could go somewhere better. If its means we strengthen elsewhere then i don't see any downside.

I'd assume that the 'It was triggered by the player' is a mechanism to allow him to save face. Sounds more positive than, he was f'd off for being consistently half arsed.

Or...It was triggered by the player?

Not as exciting or as positive for us as, 'he was a bad egg' or 'finally Villa are getting it right', admittedly.

No chance of AA playing for Bruce again after the way he treated him last summer.

Glenn Whelan maybe, former Sheff Wed player...

Yeah trigger by the player but may have been told you're not an automatic first choice or you're role will be a bench one perhaps ?

Bolasie does want to get playing again and needs a consistent run to gain back his match playing experience.

Smith didn't feel he's suited to having his re developing here I guess .
