First real test of the season, I agree.  Win this and the belief will be there.  Lose and the knives will no doubts be out.  I already think this is a much tougher and more competitive division than last year.

I agree, and while it wil make it tougher, it may also be more of a help in that it will stop two team going on the same sorts of runs that Fulham and Cardiff went on last season.

The performance on Wednesday will be just as important as the result for me, if Bruce hasn't learned his lessons from these first 3 games and a hatfull from last season then I really do think he's not the man to lead us out of this division. To be fair I'm not sure he should have been given another shot this season but he's here.

Another perceptive read Dave.

Sums up Bruce and his "tactics" very neatly!
There are times when I think I'm the only one!

For your perusal and debate:

http://thebirminghampress.com/2018/08/villa-still-have-more-questions-than-answers/
The fact that Brucey would view that as a point gained not two dropped really nails it for me. Also the lack of a game plan after Ipswich went down to ten men speaks volumes. I nearly choked on my pie when I heard we would be starting the second half with the same set up as we ended the first. We simply HAD to put them on the back foot straight away but we didn't and their belief gradually grew to the point where they must've been dreaming of a famous victory. I also think your spot on about him hoping for a piece of individual genius to grab the points instead of him having an actual plan to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. If we get yet another footballing lesson off Brentford tomorrow night it will be the beginning of the end for him and his coaching staff in my opinion. An interesting evening under the villa park floodlights lies ahead.
