Back at it this weekend vs the Tractor Boys. Can we go 4 straight wins to start the season?

Team I’d like to see

Nyland
RDL
Hutton
Chester
Tuanzebe
Bjarnason
McGinn
Elmohamady
Green
Grealish
Kodjia

Subs:

RHM
Moreira
Hourihane
Jedinak
Elphick
Adomah
Whelan

My first trip to Portman Road was SGT's first game in charge. They have drawn at home to Blackburn, lost away to Rotherham and been knocked out of the cup on penalties by Exeter. Even under their new manager i think they will struggle this season. They have been treading water in the Championship for some time now. I had them as one of the three teams to go down (along with Rotherham and QPR) in my pre season predictor. We should be capable of winning this one even given the unpredictability of this league.

0-2 I think  Grealish to get one, no idea who’ll get the other

I would hope we are a lot more balanced and organised defensively than we were against Wigan and to a lesser extent at Hull.

Nyland

Taylor
Chester
Axel
Hutton

Jedinak

Albert
McGinn
Grealish
Green

Kodjia

I'd go:

Nyland
Elmo Axel Chester Hutton
Hourihane Whelan McGinn
Grealish Kodjia Albert

Green and Katherine Hepburn-Murphy to come on as subs to stretch them later on.

I still really want to see us try with Kodjia and Green both playing as wide strikers and Grealish in the hole (gif incoming) with McGinn and 2 from Thor/Hourihane/Jedinak in behind him.  I genuinely believe it would bring the best out of the front 3 without sacrificing anything in midfield and defence.  I could mean we'd end up quite narrow but that's all about making sure Kodjia and Green are holding to those wider positions until we get into the final 3rd. I think Adomah and RHM would be better in those attacking roles as well but we don't have any like for like cover for Grealish, McGinn moving forward would probably be the best option if needed.

Get a balanced defence. I think scoring won't be a huge problem this season.

I'd keep Thor in there. I know he didn't have a great game against Wigan but i'd like to see him have a run at some point and he has a goal in him.

Nyland

Elmo
Chester
Axel F or Elphick
Hutton

Thor
McGinn
Grealish

Green
Kodjia
Albert

I wish I shared your optimism regarding us being a free scoring side this year. A potential lack of goals is a concern of mine.

6 in two would suggest otherwise.

Looks about right. Since Mick McCarthy left Ipswich have been trying to play the ball on the floor so no real need for Jedi. The other reason is Thor suits and will support more our attacking strengths.

Hoping Kodjia playing a key role in winning the game Tuesday night will be the boost he needs to get back to goalscoring form in this one. Despite being short on confidence of late and missing the great headed chance I actually thought second half he put in the yards v Wigan and didn't sulk. Tuanzebe and Chester must be our #1 CB partnership for the season when fit, their skillsets compliment one another well and if all goes to plan they could be our first choice two for some time.

I don't see any reason to make any changes from last week other than RDL in at right back and Jedinak on the bench so Axel can slot in to his natural position.

I'd go for Clampys team with Axel at CB, think he needs a run of games there now, probably less error prone than Elphick.
