Great news is that he will have a proper break at the end of the season. It's a win win.

I see Man Utd fans clamouring for SJM's signature according to the B'ham Mail. Will we be able to fend them off??

I’m not sure McGinn’s head is easily turned to be honest.  Not because I am biased about Villa, but because of everything we see and hear about the man.  He does appear to be very grounded, to the point the other players take the piss out of his boring normal car, so I can’t see him rushing out the door for a few extra million a year somewhere else.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure if he felt he had to move to continue to progress and a club that could offer him a bigger challenge came in then he would be sensible and go. But I don’t see that being Man United in the next twelve months.

YES. I don't think they will pay the £100M  fee. I was away on a trip with a couple of manure fans last week. Both from the greater Manchester area and they couldn't stop talking about John.

With a spade and Molotov cocktails would be my preferred method.

Manchester United are not the draw they once were, doubt he would consider them if we can continue to give him PL football (big if). Would be highly surprised if they were the only interested parties though.

Look it's great he got a hat-trick in an international but even SHA's reserves could beat San Marina.

Have we ever had a player who scored an international hat-trick before?  Struggling to think of one.

Wikipedia: The first players to score a hat-trick for England were Howard Vaughton and Arthur Alfred Brown, both Aston Villa players; in a friendly match against Ireland in 1882, they scored nine goals between them.

Fred Wheldon and Albert Allen also scored hat-tricks for England, all four were against pre-partition Ireland. Unless I've missed one, we don't seem to have had an international hat-trick scorer since Queen Victoria died. Until today, obviously.
