Squad numbers
«
on:
August 04, 2018, 10:49:19 PM »
Have been released -
https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2018/08/03/squad-numbers-2018-19
Maybe I'm old fashioned but it doesn't fill me with confidence about our goalkeeping options when we have three keepers on the books and none of them warrant the number 1 shirt!!
Oh, and when did numbers 4, 7 and 11 go out of fashion?!

A lot of players don't like to change numbers. 11 was Gabby, 4 was Samba, Bacuna was 7 before leaving and then it was Snodgrass.

Let's hope there are some incoming players to fill those shirts.

I think all of those shirts will have players to fill them by the end of August. Will be a busy couple of weeks for Villa.

Courtois coming in for number 1 shirt, Kante will be signed from Chelsea for number 4 while Mbappe will have to choose either 7 or 11. Modric will pick up whichever number Mbappe doesn’t pick😁

It's an FFP thing, we needed to get him and Gabby off the catering budget.

Having four goalkeepers in the squad but no number one or thirteen must be some sort of first.

I saw a rumour today that we're after a keeper from the German 2nd Division to be our number 1, which begs the question, why the fuck have we brought in the guy from Madrid given we already have three reserve goalies?!

No number for McCormack, so presumably he won't be registered in our squad for the season. Unless I've missed some news and he's gone out on loan again somewhere.
