Paul e raves about Jack Clarke and when I saw him v Brighton in the play off final I was underwhelmed but in the short spell I watched tonight I was very impressed .
I was impressed by how quickly the young lads moved the ball and how they worked to provide passing options.Welldone Mark Delaney.

Most of the kids were disappointing in the play off final, I think they just had too many games close together towards the end of the season and they looked flat.

Biggest win at Villa Park for a Villa team since Bristol City were stuffed 5. How they must hate coming to Villa Park

Don't like quoting myself but I wanted to check how much they ended up playing and it was 6 games is 19 days including one that went to penalties before before a week break into the final. I remember thinking at the time that it felt like they were playing all the time but that really is a horrible schedule to go into a cup final and play off final, victims of their own success really.

I was really underwhelmed when I watched games at the end of last season but perhaps that was tiredness per the above

From what I saw the pace and fluidity was very good last night

Bristol looked shit tho. Given the bloated nature of our squad I still think loans are the best option for these guys

A "youthful" Villa team are playing Coleshill in the Birmingham Senior Cup tonight.

EDIT: 1-0 up at half-time.

Perhaps slightly related to the thread-topic, I notice that Callum Robinson is in the startng line-up for the RoI tonight: is he another of those that "got away"?
