1989. Paul McGrath's Villa debut. You're right, it was Nielsen with the only goal. I remember he came on as sub and some wag shouted "fuck me, we've signed a fat Jan Molby".

Lots of Hibs hoolie lad types seem to obsess over the trouble at that game but it all passed me by.

One of the crowd we used to stand amongst on the Holte End took one look at Kent Neilson the first time he saw him play for us and immediately nicknamed him 'Robocop'.

We already had when you added Hearts to the list. 😜 my Grandad was a Hearts season ticket holder in the 40s-60s so I keep an eye on their results. Iím still not over Dens Park in 86 and that twunt Albert Kidd.

Was that the year Hearts were unbeaten in 28-30 games and lost the league on the last day of the season?

I recall coming out of White Hart Lane after we had lost 4-2 but just avoided relegation and we saw the Scottish scores in a tv shop on the High Rd. We were amazed that Hearts had bottled it.

I was living in France and thought that the Hibs friendly was in Scotland - remember in those days friendlies were hardly covered in the news.

I remember Hibs had a big hooligan following in those days. One pre-season friendly at Millwall around that time was marked by an afternoon of battles around the Den (think it was still the Old Den, so they must have been mad)

That must count as one of the worst title fuck-ups. Still, beating your local rivals 5-1 in a cup final must have been pleasant.

Is that Vaughan charlatan the one who was involved at Chester City back in the day?

I was at that Hibs friendly .I can't remember a thing about the game to be honest but i do remember after it. I had arranged to go on holiday to the Lake District before they arranged the game .I managed to persuade my girl friend at the time to go after the game so i could watch the game .On the M6 on the way to the Lakes we stopped at Keele services .Turned out to be a bad move, there were a couple of coaches of Hibs fans causing loads of aggro and how they never seen my Villa shirt i will never know.

Which brainless idiots in UEFA thought it was a good idea to stage the Europa final in Azerbaijan? Tensions are already running high with neighbouring Armenia. Add in problems with ticketing and travel arrangements. And to top it all a key player for Arsenal has pulled today out over safety concerns. Well done UEFA!

Nothing wrong with hosting the tournament in a nation which is to the far east of the competing nations. Just as it wouldn't be wrong to host it in Dublin, Lisbon or Cardiff in the far west of the continent.

The competition is open to teams from 55 nations and Western European, or Western and Central European nations, shouldn't have a monopoly on hosting big games.

The main concern I have is the rip off ticket prices.

So safety doesn't come into it?

Serves their fans right for invading the pitch, assaulting one of our players and smashing up our club house back in 2003/4.

I'm not aware of the problems in Armenia, tbh.

However, Baku is 350 miles away so I don't see the issue.

Should Wembley and Hampden have been banned from hosting major matches during The Troubles in Northern Ireland? Should the San Siro have been closed due to its proximity to the Balkan War?

How many players have pulled out over safety concerns in London? Arsenal will be at a disadvantage - you don't seem to recognise a players safety? You just don't get it!

Arsenal will be at a disadvantage because one player has taken it upon himself to withdraw. Possibly he feels unsafe, there doesn't seem much to back up his assertion. Possibly he just doesn't like Azeris and so doesn't want to play there. Either way, it isn't the host nation's fault.

Uefa will, presumably, have done a prematch check to ensure that it was a suitable venue.  The stadium already hosted Roma, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid this season with no incidents.
