There's a good pie and a few pubs in there.

I remember going over to see Villa v Inter at VP for pre-season, some 11 years ago now was it? What a long way away that seems, in tangible terms as much as the sense of time passing.

Dresden is stunningly beautiful. After the bombing in 1945 the centre was just a heap of rubble and the rebuilding didn't begin in earnest until after German unification in 1990. The Coventry Cross of Nails is a poignant symbol of the city's rebirth.
Dresden airport is very small. There are flights from Stansted to Leipzig/Halle, which is 1½ hours away on the fastest train. The fastest train from Berlin does the journey in under 2 hours and from Prague just over 2.

Just looking at flights to Germany for this, i see there are 3 airports around Berlin, Tegel, Templehoff and Schoenefeld.
Flybe fly from Brum to Tegel just really wanna know which is the easiest for rail journey on to Dresden....If Tegel Ok ill stick with
FlyBe from brum.
Ryanair from Manchester cheaper but that flies to Schoenefeld

Any advice please

Neither Schönefeld nor Tegel has good rail links.
From Tegel there's a regular bus service to Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). That takes 20 minutes and then it's about 1 hour 50 direct to Dresden on the fastest train. That direct connection is every 2 hours. On other trains the journey involves several changes.
From Schönefeld you'd take a slow local train (the S-Bahn) to Berlin Südkreuz. That leg is about 30 minutes and then it's 1 hour 40 on the fastest train direct to Dresden.

One of my favourite bands are playing in Dusseldorf two days before we're in Dresden

Anyone tell me how hard/easy that is to cover distance wise ?

Maybe we can ask Walsall to switch the game to VP to help us out.

17th and then the 28th.  I presume they will be away for a week in-between for a training camp with games involved.

Why can't we have a prestige friendly at home for a change? One of the big clubs, like Watford or Huddersfield...or Fulham.

We will play Watford again in the Graham Taylor cup won't we?  Or was that a one-off?

Dresden. A once proud city reduced to ruins as a result of over ambitious hubris. How apt.

One off I imagine given how low the crowd was (mind you wasn't it supposed to be played at Watford and got changed late on).

We start the season (bills permitting) a week after Dresden so won't be able to fit it in unless we play it midweek but that would likely be a lower crowd than last year.
