Hugh Johns and Star Soccer. Not just for his Villa commentaries but his Midlands work in general. 'Big Peter Withe', 'Sid Cowans', 'Pop Robson', 'Big Larry Lloyd', 'Wee Archie Gemmill'. He was also the forgotten commentator of the 1966 World Cup final on ITV as people only remember Kenneth Wolstenholme's famous words on the BBC. Obviously George Gavin's radio work for BRMB, particularly from 1980 to 1982 as well.
His name escapes me, again, but who used to do our commentaries on European nights on BBC radio?
Certainly not the most synonymous, but I love this commentary from Martin Tyler. "Merson...it's dipPING OH! PAUL MERSON!"
Hugh John's Star Soccer commentaries would start with him welcoming us to whatever ground it was and then giving us the background to the match over random shots of the players warming up in the style of their choosing which was sometimes half-hearted in those days. Defenders would often "hoike" the ball forward rather than simply clear it. The midlands bit would finish with a pitch side interview with Billy Wright every week. There was something very comforting about that programme.
