Any help or thoughts welcome. (and no Iím not going to fly back for the match)

I was in Rome with my Roman boss in 2001 (?) when Liverpool won the UEFA cup v Alaves, 5-4.  We watched it in a pub called Shamrock which was near the Coloseum so reasonably central. Apparently there are several Irish bars there now so am sure you would find alternative options.

A place I enjoyed going to for general food was called Gusto on Piazza Augustus Imperatore. Good basic Italian food downstairs and posher food upstairs. He took me to loads of older, out of the way wonderful restaurants too but sadly I can't recall any names.

Enjoy!

Scholars pub might be a good bet.  Centrally located and roomy inside with a big screen.

Thanks as long as thereís Irish pubs we shouldnít go wrong. Will need to research as only arriving in Rome an hour or so before kick off so need to get the bags dumped at the hotel sharpish.

I found myself in exactly the same situation three years ago.

There's bound to be an Irish Bar in Sydney. They get them everywhere except Ireland.

Tony, try the Star Casino. Plenty of sports bars and open 24/7.
