It’s an excellent result but I think we could have made it more comfortable if we’d have picked the odd pass instead of just booting the ball as far away as possible.

Thought we were very comfortable throughout, reminded me of Forest away. Early goal and then we mainly defended but never under sustained pressure.

Job well done.

Paul Franks slagging off Kodjia already on the phone in...

I'd start Jimmy in the second leg. Let him prove him wrong.

Boro are not vey good. We did a decent job but we need to see them off in the return match. I'm sure we will.
Credit to the Villa boys - great away support

Happy with the reuslt but he needs to sort the midfield out for the 2nd leg and the final, we gave them far too much time and space. They had enough chances to get one back and we can't play such  a risky game for 90minutes.

Kodj was poor when he came on but I felt a bit sorry for him, 30 yards away from the rest of the team having balls hung up in the air for him really isn't his game.

I’d forgotten Pulis teams using a fucking towel at every throw in.

Good result, very good first half, disappointing second half. Jack and the defence good, Albert, Hotlips, Kodjia were crap.

Thought Hourihane and Adamoah worked very hard and were very prominent in the first half, harsh, we were wide open on our left defensively when Adamoah went off

The Chester, Terry, Jedinak axis were superb, limited Boro to very little

Grealish was superb at times, commentator was right, difference in class between him and Traore was glaring

Good change from Bruce, and a brave one, to swap Hutton over and follow Traore, Elmo was struggling.

Half time only, need to target their left back more as he is hopeless

Johnstone 7, Elmo 5, Chester 7, Terry 8, Hutton 8, Snodgrass 6, Hourihane 7, Jedinak 8, Adamoah 7, Grealish 8, Grabban 5. Kodjia 3 (awful), BB 6, Whelo 6

Onomah would benefit our midfield in the 2nd leg, we need more drive.

Very professional result all round, with some solid and workmanlike performances, but I thought our extra quality always gave us the edge.

Adama showed extactly what he is, all flash and dash but limited end product. Hopefully we won’t just try to sit on the lead for the second leg.

Grabban and Kodge were both very isolated which is why they didn’t have much impact.
But, they worked their bollox off, as did they all and it paid off.

Well done lads. Bloody well done.

Good result.

Disappointed that Brian Green is already on the beach.
Dedication Brian.

His hold up play and touch were woeful though, looks like he is pulling a train too in terms of his mobility

I thought Terry, Chester, Elmo and Hutton were immense. Bruce got it right tonight.
