Remind me, what are the benefits for fans we were promised as part of this deal?

You mean you’ve forgotten already?

“As both retail partner and kit manufacturer, Fanatics will operate a full vertical-manufacturing model, meaning the new kit, bearing the LUKE 1977 brand logo, will be managed by a single company from production to point-of-sale. This means fan merchandise enjoys faster speed-to-market in an increasingly on-demand world”

Ah right.  So that must mean our kit is out before everyone else's then?

(https://www.footyheadlines.com/2017/11/2018-19-kit-overview-all-leaked-18-19.html - turns out only Brighton and Fulham are still to announce out of the Prem...)

So essentially we're paying £50 to have a kit which isn't realised half way through the season?!  Now I know I'm not the target market for replica shirts (I haven't bought a full price replica shirt in about 20 years!) but the marketing blurb about how fantastic this new deal was is a load of shite isn't it?

The home shirt reminds me of the 4-3 season opener against Smethwick in 1983 but also the beginning of the monumental slide after losing to Spartak Moscow.

It's also GBP5 cheaper than last year's apparently.

BTW it looks like Arsenal have messed with their white sleeves this year - some horrible pink-looking stripes on them.

Luke Roper has failed. Breaking with tradition by omitting the light blue sleeves. That horrible shaded stripe effect looks awful. Would rather have adidas design the shirt.

Same here. I see Paul Rideout in that kit.

I don't mind it, similar to the 80s claret version. Right now a kit which we will wear for a season is the least of our worries, they could play in skins and I'd care less.

I like them both and some of the training gear is also decent.

Having the Luke lion logo and the AVFC lion on the same shirt is a bit much. Mr Roper should have taken the opportunity to stick his lion underneath the AVFC on the crest. Hey presto, redesign of the hated Randy badge and one less badly drawn lion on the shirt.

He said that it would be a nostalgia trip for Villa fans.

What that kit mostly reminds me of is the beginning of the dismantling of a European Champions side, and the construction in its place of a division 2 side.

The only thing that makes me smile of that shirt period is the memory of the Didier Six Man United game.

Roper’s lion look like a epileptic King Charles Spaniel.
