Get to the final and lose, or win, it doesn’t leave any manager a particularly long transfer window.  That said, win the final and you get maximum exposure, rather that than finish second?

Winning the final is the best way to go up - The problem is that the odds are against you as it becomes a bit of a lottery.

I'd like to think that our players are best equipped for it, given their experience but you never can tell with them.

I don't see play offs as a lottery but understand people view as such. This I guess is mainly due to factors such as luck and chance. Not only this but the fact penalties could be used to decide outcome.
It was Reading a pen kick away from being in Prem not Huddersfield last season

However the teams in play off earn right to be there and it depends on organisation and nerve as much as anything else. Consistency and momentum is what brought any team in to the 3rd to 6th places in league .(ahead of finishing lower)  There of course is quality  players in team  that finish in these playoff places. Maybe too some luck or bad luck in injuries and results or fixture runs / changes.

I see play offs as high pressure stakes and the  biggest matches of the season.

The tension watching though would be very high and due to expectations this could hinder.

The play offs are definitely a lottery.
In fact how often does the third placed team go up?
It is just like the league cup semi's and final - Anyone remember Bradford?
I think the third place team are often subconsciously gutted they never made the top two.
If we go through the play offs we are better having a blip now and maybe winning the last 5 games so we are in form rather than accumulating points through inconsistency and scraping third/fourth place.

It bloody will be Millwall or Middlesbrough won't it? Hoping for Preston as it's the only ground that I won't have been to among teams in the top ten.

I have this horrible vision of being sat at Wembley watching Traore run the length of the pitch at break neck speed to score ‘the most valuable goal’

Think I’ll keep hoping for a Cardiff implosion :-)

So as I thought 3 day turnaround.

Not hugely promising given how we struggled v QPR and SB is hardly going to make too many changes given what is at stake in the games.

How does that work then? Aren’t the League 1&2 finals on the Saturday and Sunday?

They have swopped them around this year due to the World Cup
League 1 on the Sunday and League 2 on Bank Holiday Monday

Is the A Leg 3rd vs 6th or 4th vs 5th?

The Championship should get the flagship Bank Holiday Monday slot surely?
