Play offs what if.....
« on: March 18, 2018, 02:06:33 PM »
If we manage to stay in the playoffs, do we know if our loan players will still be eligible to play? My understanding, right or wrong, is that they were all on season long loans which by definition would end with the away game at Milwall as that is the last game of the season.

The season ends after the play-off final.

If people are writing off our chances of bridging a 7 point gap between ourselves and Cardiff then by the same token, they should do the same with the 8 point gap between us and 7th place. It would take almighty runs by BOTH 6th & 7th placed teams to dislodge us from top 6 so play offs are a given as far as I'm concerned.

Players are on loan for the entire season which includes the play offs. Huddersfield had several loanees in their line up for the play off final last season.

I am presuming season ticket holders would need to buy a ticket for the home game of the play off semi final ?

Get to the final and lose, or win, it doesn’t leave any manager a particularly long transfer window.  That said, win the final and you get maximum exposure, rather that than finish second?

Winning the final is the best way to go up - The problem is that the odds are against you as it becomes a bit of a lottery.

I'd like to think that our players are best equipped for it, given their experience but you never can tell with them.

Have any of the semi-final play off dates been announced?

Kodjia will score the winner in the play-off final is my prediction! If Kodjia and Grealish had been fit most of the season we'd be in at least second place by now. We've been cursed with injury once again....

Nope but they usually start about a week after the season ends. Last year the season ended on May 7th and the play-offs started on the 13th.

For an omen the final is May 26th.

Despite expecting us to be automatically promoted I've always had this image of Appleyard lifting the trophy at Wembley come May.

Are both ties mid-week or are they one on a weekend and the second leg mid week?

I believe that one leg will be the Saturday after Millwall and the second leg will be the following Wednesday.

This is acceptable. I currently have nothing planned for those dates.

However, if Villa are in the Championship play-off final, the club and EFL will have to change the planned date because that's the weekend of Cardiff PsychFest.

Moving the game to Cardiff would also be OK

I don't care where Cardiff play Fulham in the play-off final, or when, as long as it doesn't clash with our automatic promotion parade.
