I remember being at this game and also the following Tuesday for the League Cup game - we beat them 3 times in as two weeks as I remember.

Thanks for posting, PWS.

A repeat on Saturday would be just the job.

I'm pretty sure in one of those games Andy Gray was sent off for a foul on Dennis Mortimer. Gray said in his book he had deliberately gone for Mortimer as they disliked each other when they were team mates.

Andy Gray was sent off for a foul on Dennis Mortimer in the First Leg of the League Cup at Villa Park, which we won 3-2.

funny thing at that time Wolves tried to buy themselves success but ultimately put themselves in the spew.

The smoke bomb game (Gray's first outing for them against us sticks out in my mind) and he certainly didn't seem to have any love for us at that time.

Also the night game when they had to win to avoid relegation (last game of season) and we needed to win to stand any chance of a UEFA cup = of course we lost the game.

always hated the postiioning of the away portion of the South Bank completely off cue with the pitch.

Still a better day out than St Andrews or the Hawthorns

Was Tony Morley sent off in one of the home games in the early 80’s as the players walked off for half time?  Confusion reigned when we came out with ten men for their second half as there had been no announcement of Morley’s departure

Albion, League Cup 1982. I wasn't confused about the sending off due to the fact I was listening to it on BRMB in my bedroom as a kid. You are spot on about the circumstances though. I think it took commentator George Gavin a while to establish the facts.
