AVL/QPR 0 Beast from East/Emma 2 post match thread
« on: March 03, 2018, 09:00:56 AM »
Well I thought it would be a more comprehensive defeat but glad to get away with a 2-0 slapping. Once again wrong selection by management with poor clearance and lot of slippages due to ground state. We stood around ice frozen most of the time and any response was akin to wet slush. Not good enough.

Absolute disgrace. I've stood by Bruce, but there's no excuse for this. The snow blatantly wanted it more.

We faced an onslaught; some might say a blizzard. To say we were frozen out would be an understatement.
If we take the game as a weather-bell, I’d say that we have been firmly put in our place. Perhaps because relationships between manager and fans needs to thaw, it may be a while till we hit calmer waters. Then, perhaps, we’ll storm back.

Very good! Well now what am I going to do with today? Where’s that Columbo boxset?

Some of the brain donors who support our club are an absolute embarrassment. Loads of tweets along the lines of:

“Rubbish decision there’s no snow on my drive.”

“Why is the rearranged game midweek and not on a Saturday.”

There's a lovely QPR fan who first moaned that we hadn't covered the pitch, then that Wolves are playing and now that we'll get a bigger crowd at midweek.

I imagine they would have closed the roof at Loftus Road. Pride of London.....

The snow had some good players that drifted in and out to great effect. Once they went ahead you just knew they would shut up the shops and park the gritters.

Player Ratings:-

Colin Shivers- at fault for both goals- guilty of flapping again.
John Skidman- man of the match
Gordon Sniff- average, caught a cold on a couple of occasions
Ian Ross Frozen Fish Fingers- Tried hard didn't get a grip of the game
Olaf Iceberg- solid, though still only showing a third of his potential

Vic Snow- led the team well but drifted out of the game
Ernie 'Slush' Callaghan- out of position but slipped a few good passes in
Gareth Southskate- glided through the game
Nobby Solaro- completely out of place, looked frozen out

John Deepancrispaneven- it's getting hard work now
Gilles De Bildea snowman- totally bored with it to be honest, wish I never started it.

The match would be on if the bastard council had bothered to grit the roads 'round Villa Park. And everywhere else for that matter, it's time to hand responsibility to the general public if you ask me, they know so much more about the science of it all.

I've never seen a great white shark so I don't believe they exist.

It annoys me that we aren't as well prepared to deal with snow as the Russians are, just because we only have about two hundred days a year less of it. Sack the Council.

Top quality that - you look to be the same vintage as me and obviously have too much time on your hands ! Well done though Virgil :)

The fans totally failed to support the team today.

The tutting at half time was embarrassing.
